What are the responsibilities and job description for the Artistic Producer position at Cleveland Play House?
Classification: Full Time, Year Round, Salaried
Location: Cleveland, OH
Schedule: This position will primarily work Monday-Friday, 9:00-5:30pm with periodic evening/weekend/early morning hours connected to CPH production schedule.
Reports to: Interim Artistic Director
Salary Range: $62,340 - $76,000
Supervises: Company Manager, Associate Producer; indirect report: Producing & Company Management Associate.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop, maintain, and update the Artistic/Production budget annually with input from the artistic and production staff for review by CPH leadership. This work will include forecasting, cash flow projections, and monthly expense reconciliations.
- Act as the primary conduit between CPH and LORT, AEA, SDC, USA and AFM. Have a strong working understanding of all current collective bargaining agreements with the above unions.
- Negotiate all guest artist contracts for CPH Artistic programming, including Mainstage, CWRU/CPH MFA productions, New Ground Theatre Festival, and CPH Educational Productions.
- Develop the annual Artistic and Production programming calendar in coordination with CPH's partners, including Playhouse Square, Cleveland State University, and Case Western Reserve University. Manage the calendar for all performance, rehearsal and additional spaces in ArtsVision.
- Negotiate and issue all licensing agreements, commission agreements, co-production agreements or enhancement agreements for the organization.
- Be an active part of the strategic planning that goes into season planning.
- Support a variety of departments by ensuring that day-to-day operations of the artistic and production departments are running smoothly.
- Act as project manager on a variety of initiatives that develop through special programming within the organization.
Desired Experience and Skills include:
- Previous work experience in a LORT Theatre and/or knowledge of Collective Bargaining Agreements with AEA, SDC, USA, AFM and IATSE.
- Bachelor's Degree in Theatre, Non-Profit Management, related field or applicable work experience.
- Commitment to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion principals.
- Has experience with budgeting and financial reporting.
- Comfortable in both collaborative and independent working environments
- Strong oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; strong attention to detail.
This position will primarily work in collaboration with: Artistic Staff, Production Department Heads, Director of CWRU/CPH MFA Acting Program, all members of Leadership Team
