What we do:
The Lead Flight Test Engineer works closely with core engineering and operations teams on planning and execution of flight test campaigns. This role is a critical contributor in enabling safe, efficient experimental flight testing. The role is responsible for developing test plans, writing test cards, and participating in flight readiness reviews, test readiness reviews, and risk assessments. The Lead Flight Test Engineer will work closely with aircraft maintenance to ensure that the flight vehicle is in proper configuration for testing, coordinate ground & flight tests, perform data analysis, write test reports, document test results, and solve issues. An understanding and working knowledge of flight test instrumentation and data acquisition and strong configuration management skills.

What you can do:
- Acquire a comprehensive knowledge of air vehicle's systems
- Assist in the development and execution of flight test campaigns and associated processes
- Generate flight test procedures at the system level and establish flight requirements for tracking and derivation
- Collaborate with engineers, flight test pilots, and operations team to develop flight test plans and write flight test cards
- Plan, organize, and implement flight test operations
- Ensure the test vehicle is properly configured to meet test objectives
- Conduct tests daily
- Coordinate and communicate daily flight tests
- Analyze data, document results, and solve obstacles
- Support the coordination of multiple teams to achieve flight test objectives and risk hazard assessments
- Partner with PMO organization to implement build plan
- Up to 30% of domestic and international travel
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in engineering required; Master’s degree preferred
- A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in engineering
- A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in experimental flight testing (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
- Experience authoring flight test plans and reports
- Experience managing deficiencies, limitations, and restrictions in a flight test environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proactive delivery of communication and follow up
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Must have the ability to independently prioritize and accomplish work within time constraints
- Proficiency with Excel VLOOKUP, pivot tables, MS Office Suite
- Experience testing complex flight control, power management, and avionics systems preferred
- Experience in data analysis with MATLAB, IADS, and other tools preferred
- Experience operating/testing of remotely piloted aircraft preferred
