Details:
1 year contract with potential for extensions and/or conversions to a FTE
Ideal candidate will reside in Colorado, but open to nationwide/remote candidates
If in Colorado, schedule would be mostly remote with periodic in person meetings in Longmont or Boulder but client is open to fully remote if travel is too challenging
8 hour per day shift with the possibility of overtime if in an emergency response
Need to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19
Requirements:
2 years of experience in a Communications or Public Relations position
2 years of experience in journalism, media relations and writing, specifically in persuasive writing – i.e., columns and op-eds
2 years of experience posting in all the major social media platforms – Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.
2 years of experience within Public Information Management (PIO) or Emergency Management or Crisis Communications experience
2 years of grassroots community engagement and health equity experience
Plusses:
Public or Community Health background is stronglypreferred (or similar)
WordPress experience – writing, creating, and editing for web pages
Graphic Design skills within InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, or similar
Design and/or video editing skills, preferably within Adobe Premier Pro and/or Adobe Rush
Covid-response experience
Bilingual in Spanish
Day-to-Day:
Insight Global is seeking a Communications Specialist to join the Strategic Initiatives division within Boulder County Public Health (BCPH). This individual will be responsible for creating and implementing educational communication strategies that target priority populations regarding COVID-19 updates and information. At this phase of the COVID-19 response, BCPH is shifting from a larger community-wide effort to working with priority populations that include teens and young adults, low-income community members, and BIPOC community members who continue to face barriers to remaining healthy as the pandemic continues. This more focused response requires nuanced public messaging and more grass roots community engagement efforts. The day-to-day responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Partnering internally with the BCPH Communicable Disease and Emergency Management team to strategize, implement, and manage outreach to the community regarding COVID-19 response and mitigation
Managing multiple initiatives and projects effectively by setting and meeting deadlines and creating and implementing communications plans for each initiative.
Engaging with community partners and with outside PR firms, and work with Project Leads to meet the communications needs of multiple projects/initiatives.
Managing BCPH social media accounts as well as working with stakeholders and influencers to effectively utilize social media to meet education goals
Working with internal and external partners to understand and address health equity issues as it relates to public health and the pandemic including the current environment around vaccines and testing, treatments, and other mitigation measures (isolation/quarantine)
Adjusting to the ever-changing environment of the pandemic and being able to quickly create public messaging to educate the public about updates like bivalent boosters, for example. It's crucial that the Communications Specialist has the ability to tease out key messages and put into concise communications.
Measuring the success of each strategy and reporting those findings back to the division
Daily meetings discussing vaccine equity and how to reach target populations
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
