What are the responsibilities and job description for the Content Writer position at Cloudbeds?
Cloudbeds is the hospitality industry's fastest-growing technology provider for independent hotels, hostels, vacation rentals, and hotel groups. Our award-winning Cloudbeds Hospitality Platform is currently helping a growing clientele of 22,000 properties in 157 countries to increase revenue, streamline operations, and deliver memorable guest experiences.
Behind the Cloudbeds platform is a growing team of 600 employees distributed across 40 countries speaking 30 languages. From data architects to UX designers, integrations managers to payments experts, former hotel managers to former OTA executives, our team comprises the brightest minds in technology and hospitality working to solve the industry’s biggest challenges.
From the beginning, we've believed that our people are our greatest asset, so we've founded the company as #RemoteFirst, #RemoteAlways with shared core values that allow our team to thrive. This means we:
- Hire the best people wherever they're located;
- Emphasize the value of results over hours put in;
- Provide flexibility in working hours and locations;
- Foster an inclusive environment that celebrates bold thinking and diverse perspectives;
- Offer open vacation policies, free LinkedIn Learning, and other benefits that promote well-being and professional development.
Together we’re on a mission to power every property in the world and to do that, we need to deftly and concisely communicate our value proposition to our customers and prospects. That’s why we are on the search for a skilled, detail-oriented Content Writer to enrich our marketing program with well-written assets that help us to appeal to our audiences, attract customers, and boost brand awareness.
As our Content Writer, you will be responsible for researching, writing, and editing content assets across our entire marketing program. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with native-level English writing and copy-editing skills, as well as have previous experience with writing in a digital marketing context, including writing for SEO and digital ad copy. This is a position with a lot of opportunity for growth as we continue to scale our organization and our marketing efforts.
Experience in hospitality or hospitality technology is preferred, but not necessary if you can demonstrate the ability and desire to quickly learn, incorporate, and write about complex topics in our industry — in essence, the winning candidate will be able to write like a subject matter expert, even if they are not currently one.
What You’ll Do:
- Write clear and concise copy for various types of marketing assets, including blog articles, campaign content, advertising copy, landing pages, website copy, emails, case studies, and other sales enablement materials
- Optimize copy for digital marketing purposes, including SEO/inbound marketing, search and display advertising, conversion optimization, and email marketing
- Perform basic keyword research and be able to incorporate SEO guidelines into content to increase inbound traffic and search rankings
- Proofread and edit drafts of other marketing/sales materials and provide thoughtful feedback on how to improve the copy for marketing purposes
- Research trends and insights on travel, hospitality, and technology to inform the direction of content and provide supporting context to key messages and ideas
- Interview subject matter experts about relevant topics and incorporate their expertise into content
- Work cross-functionally with marketing communications, demand generation, and product marketing to identify customer needs and gaps in our content and recommend new topics
- Ensure consistency in brand, style, and tone across writing
- Update and upload content into the website as needed
Experience & Skills:
- 3-5 years of experience as a content writer, copywriter, marketing communications specialist, or similar role
- Native-level English writing and copy-editing skills
- Comprehensive portfolio of published articles and other written content in marketing
- Strong understanding of the latest strategies and best practices in digital marketing, including SEO, SEM, website optimization, email marketing, and social media marketing
- Experience working with WordPress, Clearscope, Yoast, Ahrefs, Google Analytics, or any other similar digital marketing tech stack
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with quick turnarounds
- Self-starter with a demonstrated capability to manage multiple projects, prioritize a variety of tasks, and willingness to deep dive and learn about a topic in-depth (even beyond what is required to complete the writing project)
- Able to spot trends and opportunities for improving content program
- Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
- Passionate about the hospitality industry and SaaS technology; previous experience with either is preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or English
- Certifications in digital marketing (e.g. Hubspot Marketing, Google AdWords, etc.) are a bonus
