Want to join our dynamic advocacy team? We are looking for an ally to assist survivors in response to a variety of challenges and needs that arise from sexual violence. An average day includes attending court proceedings with our clients, explaining court events and next steps, and answering any questions on what to expect from the justice system. Other days you might work with agency partners on issues related to client services, or accurately input data related to activities. You will also provide compassionate and informational advocacy services to victims of sexual assault during and after the hospital examination, police investigation, and court proceedings. We are looking for a dedicated individual to help make a survivor of sexual violence feel supported and heard as well as help them navigate through a very difficult situation. You will be based in our Kankakee office.
To thrive in this role you must be victim-centered, detail-oriented, as well as skilled in interpersonal, verbal, and written skills. Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree are more prepared to deliver the best services to our clients. You will need reliable transportation in order to serve victims in our three-county service area. We also ask you to speak Spanish - as we serve a bilingual population of survivors. Upon hire, all new staff must complete 40 Hour Sexual Assault Crisis Intervention Training to provide the professionalism and expertise needed to assist survivors of sexual violence.
