DIRECTOR OF FITNESS & SPA

REPORTS TO: The General Manager (Clubhouse Manager)
SUPERVISES: Receptionist, All Independent Contractors for Fitness and Spa, and any other CCF employed Staff Member working in the Lifestyle Center
Job Summary (Essential Functions)
Manages the Fitness and Spa departments in accordance with the guidelines and standards set forth by The Country Club of Florida. Responsible for hiring and supervising the staff. Oversees the specific facilities, develops and implements activity programs and ensures member satisfaction with the activities and services.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervision of Staff and Operation
- Oversees daily operation of Fitness, Spa, Tennis, Pickleball, Croquet, Pool and Lifestyle Center Retail.
- Available to Front Desk Staff for support and technical and conflict resolution.
- Available to members: anticipates needs, responds to all requests, and complies with member requests whenever possible.
- Engages in informative and effective communication with members, staff, the Club Management Team and integration with other departments within the club operations.
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the facilities and equipment.
- Ensure that the quality and performance of services within the operation is comparable and competitive with respect to other industry operations and also with those of other private clubs of a similar caliber.
- Research & select best in class professional and retail products that meet the expectations of a discriminating membership.
- Maintain and supervise inventory and reorder systems for professional & retail products.
- Provide One-on-One personal training and group fitness instruction as needed.
Financial Management
- Prepare Annual Operating Budgets in accordance with the annual budget calendar to present to the Financial Committee and Board of Governors.
- Develop monthly projections and goals for each department based on the projected assumptions in the annual budget.
- Design and update all business tracking reports to include: Daily Report
(services by area/goal sheet), Monthly Count Report (excel tracking and reconciliation), Annual Revenue, Productivity Reports (services) and Daily
Facility Usage Reports.
- Ensure that the pricing and value of services within the operation is comparable and competitive with respect to other industry operations and also with those of other private clubs of a similar caliber.
- Verify and submit all charges to the accounting office daily.
- Calculate and submit payroll reports each week in a timely fashion.
- Reduce expenses and increase revenues to meet the annual budget objectives.
- Meet with vendors and seek avenues via networking and associations to obtain best in class products and services at the greatest value.
Marketing Management
- Prepare informative and educational articles for the monthly Club newsletter.
- Ensures that the Club’s website is updated with current educational offerings, wellness related content and is engaging and informative of the
Lifestyle Center offerings.
- Creates an annual calendar of spa, fitness, and educational events designed to enhance members health and lifestyle.
- Supervises the creation of fliers and member mailings, and ensures proper promotion of fitness, spa, and educational events.
Human Resources
- Provides appropriate reports regarding payroll, scheduling, job changes, shift reports, overtime authorizations and event costing.
- Design and implement new staff orientation, preseason training, and ongoing in-services for fitness, spa, and front desk service areas. Set annual staff training agenda. Coordinate in-house training, vendor training, CPR/AED training.
- Staff coaching and corrective action is administered in a timely and appropriate fashion.
- Conduct Annual staff performance reviews at the end of each season.
- Recommend staff bonuses based on performance, productivity and overall contribution to the operation
- Conduct staff meetings as needed to ensure proper team communication and quality of service.
Meets Goals and Objectives of the Club
- Research and select best quality and value supplies, member amenities, and products, order and purchase in a timely fashion.
- Maintain and track adequate inventory levels to meet the needs of the operation while maintaining fiscal responsibility.
- Committee Chairperson and committee members are given timely communications on the status of the operation via reports and updates.
- Is informed of all club events and provides information to staff to enhance club communication between departments.
- Creates Programs designed to attract inactive members to the fitness center & spa.
- Organize, promote, and facilitate networking with Spa & Fitness
Directors of Private Clubs of similar nature.
- Tour Private Clubs, Spas, and Fitness Centers to stay abreast of industry trends.
Safety and Systems Management
- Enforces club rules and policies, especially those pertaining to safety and conduct in the athletic areas.
- Annually plan for staff safety protocol training including CPR/AED/O2 and emergency response coordination with Village of Golf Security.
- Maintains an “event log” to record and provide written documentation of any injury or emergency incidents within the Lifestyle Center Racquet
Sports, Croquet and Pool facilities. Reports any occurrences directly to the GM/CM and other appropriate parties.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Licenses and Certificates
- A Bachelor's Degree in any field, although Physical Education or Sports
Science is preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years of related experience, including staff supervision, customer service, program development and fiscal/financial management
- CPR/AED/O2 Certification
- Nationally accredited certifications preferred through one or more of the following: ACSM, NASM, NSCA, CSFA*D.
- Titleist Golf Performance Certification preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Requires excellent communication and people skills
- Should be proficient with Word Processing software, Excel, Outlook and
PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of all areas of Fitness and Spa.
- Must frequently lift and move up to 45 lbs.
- Ability to speak effectively in front of groups.
- Private Club experience preferred.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
