PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR
The Production Supervisor will assist with managing the fast-paced day-to-day production operations and will support the Plant Manager in all aspects of production performance. The successful candidate will contribute to ensuring that objectives are attained in a cost-effective manner that’s consistent with quality requirements. He or she will also delegate assignments to key employees in production, warehousing, maintenance, and support coordinating operations for the processing plant.
The warehouse lead will be crucial in supporting associate scheduling, completion of daily operating reports, increasing production through leadership and helping develop strategic plans. The ideal candidate will possess a positive, can-do attitude, have strong leadership capabilities, excellent interpersonal communication skills, and be mechanically minded.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed must be representative of the knowledge, skills, training, licensure, experience and/or ability required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Builds a Safety-First culture and develops highly motivated workforce; Identifies and eliminates potential sources of food safety risk. Responsible for delivering site environmental, health, & safety performance; works to exceed expectations for all internal & external audits. Ensures all legal compliance requirements, company safety procedures, and local and state health and safety regulations are met.
- Train new employees; serves as a positive role model of emotional intelligence and servant leadership. Drives positive employee relations and delivers sustainable results.
- Oversees daily floor operations; implements and sustains manufacturing best practices/procedures and meets/exceeds relevant certifications / qualifications / requirements (for example, OSHA, SQF, GMP, HACCP, and FDA).
- Effectively communicates urgent issues both internal and external to the site, as needed
- Identifies issues quickly, assists in developing action plans and coordinates team member activities, so these issues are communicated upward, and dealt with quickly & effectively.
- Must be competent in identifying root causes of issues and adept at developing and implementing corrective actions, to prevent problems from repeating.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous production experience in a food grade facility preferred with working knowledge of SQF
- Forklift experience a plus
- Must be able to start work at 4:00 a.m. (1st shift) or late afternoon (2nd Shift)
- Able to work overtime as needed
- Aptitude for equipment operation and troubleshooting (strong mechanical skills)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong critical thinking skills, decision-making abilities, and conflict resolution
- Ability to supervise small group of employees
- Strict adherence to company standards and safety procedures
- Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
- Excellent leadership, team building, and management skills
- Able to analyze problems and strategize for better solutions
- Able to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 50 pounds
