Central Purpose of Job
The individual operates the Rolling Mill area in accordance with all Company policies and standards with the understanding that safety is our number one priority. The individual will ensure that all Rolling mill equipment is functional and collaborates with supervisors and maintenance for problem analysis and resolution. The individual will act as a subject matter expert to operations and shift personnel on rolling process operation and work to improve efficiency and utilization. The individual is expected to participate in rolling mill projects and provide input as requested.
What You'll Do
- Maintain a safety first attitude.
- Know at all times current condition of bar going on bed, know physicals, and their relation to speed and QTB.
- Plan for pass changes, box changes, repairs etc. during any down time.
- What stands or passes are ready to be changed at next opportunity, and be prepared to do so. Downtime of any sort can come at a moment’s notice, take advantage of it when you can.
- Adhere to CMC steel AZ 2 safety policies and procedures.
- Work rotating shift which includes weekends and holidays.
- Maintain a continuous focus on cost and ways to decrease cost.
- Maintain a clean work area.
Education and Knowledge Requirements
- Minimum six months rolling mill experience in a hands-on environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to recall specifics, methods, and processes.
- Comprehend and apply analyzed procedures.
Skill Requirements
- Operate fork lifts and overhead cranes safely and fluently.
- Operate a computer fluently (outlook, excel, word, etc.)
- Use of all measuring devices (tapes, micrometer, inside outside calipers, etc.)
- Must be able to multi task and follow through with task and direction given.
Behavior Requirements
- Must be able to work well with others and create a team atmosphere starting with safety.
- Must be able to follow instructions given by supervisor or manager in timely and safe manner.
- Must be respectful to others.
- Must be responsible and dependable.
