Short Description
We are currently seeking a Scale Operator to join our Logistics Department. The Scale Operator will be responsible for documentation, record keeping and weighing of all materials going in and out of the plant in a timely manner. Opening and closing of the main scales.

What You'll Do
- Assist maintenance personnel when requested/needed
- Participate in the CMC Safety Programs and proactively uphold the CMC Safety Culture
- Effectively communicate with others about possible production issues, concerns, and needs
- Ensure equipment inspection reports are filled out each shift
- Perform minor/routine maintenance or repairs as needed without the assistance of maintenance personnel
- Responsible for continuous improvement such as suggesting improvements in work methods and procedures
- Responsible for daily housekeeping duties including but not limited to immediate work area
- Troubleshoot work related problems using job knowledge, experience, and by communicating with others
- Understand start up, shutdown, and emergency procedures
- Directs weight materials, inbound & outbound, into process area
- Log information into the computer system to document weight and description of materials in and out bound
- Responsible for inventory accuracy, cycle counts and control of all materials
- Accurately assign correct commodities and location for materials
- Work closely with accounting and raw materials to resolve scrap and ticket discrepancies
- Assist dispatch with pre-load trailers, including billet loads and weekend loads
- Inspect all incoming scrap loads for non-conformance items
- Monitors Radiation Detection equipment
- Divert scrap loads to the rail scale and communicate information during traffic overflow situations
- Ensure all backhauls are unloaded and accounted for with clear communication to the relieving shift
- Suggests improvements in work methods/procedures by verbally communicating ideas with supervisors or others
- Interpret all operational procedures and parameters including Job Safety Analysis and Work Instructions
- Perform additional duties as needed

- Willing to learn; enjoys tackling new challenges

- Ability to work overtime as necessary outside of normally scheduled shift with little or no advance notification

- Make timely and sound decisions while using resources wisely
- Displays a positive, can-do attitude; maintains composure when faced with difficult situations
- Must be able to frequently lift up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
- Push and pull up to 90 lbs and carry 50 lbs
- Ability to work with exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals, dust fumes and mists, uneven surfaces, loud noise, elevated work areas, and confined spaces
- Ability to sit and stand for duration of shift, up to 8 hours

- Must be able to learn quickly and multitask
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Some overtime will be required
- Work on a rotating shift which may include weekends and holidays
Your Education
- High School Diploma or GED required
