Founded in 1996, CMES, Inc. is a rapidly growing, privately held Georgia-based civil construction company. We are seeking to add a Superintendent to our team to support our continued rapid growth within the utility industry. This role is a field-based position, located in Atlanta, Georgia, and will support the project management needs in the field. This position will work at multiple work site locations throughout the Greater Metro Atlanta, Area.

Overview
The Water Superintendent will manage crews on our projects and serve as our representative in dealings with subcontractors, suppliers, customers, and government inspectors. This role will oversee all water, sewer and storm drain activities and employees. This includes, but is not limited to, supervision of all Water/Sewer Operations staff, developing and implementing Department goals, policies and priorities, oversight of all water, sewer and storm water operations and maintenance, participation in large capital expansion projects, preparing and administering department budget and expenditures, and recordkeeping
Roles & Responsibilities
- Plans and directs the operations and maintenance work performed by the Water/Sewer / Storm Drain sector.
- Confers with the CEO to plan, develop and direct the implementation of division goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and work standards.
- Performs technical and supervisory work directing the activities of workers in a variety of water, sewer, and storm water work, including maintenance and operation of mains, valves, hydrants, backflow preventers, and services.
- Oversees the personnel functions for the water division, including analyzing division personnel needs; makes recommendations, accordingly, including recruiting, selecting, hiring, motivating, evaluating, disciplining and terminating divisional personnel in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Coordinate site activities and assure that all employees, subcontractors and vendors directly involved in the project are in phase with the project goals and objectives
- Perform and oversee all work in a safe and efficient manner
- Function as part of a collaborative environment and work closely with other construction team members and industry professionals
- Operate machinery, if required, according to project plans and specifications
- Provide assistance to subcontractors as required
- Document and report work activities in a concise and effective manner

- Other Duties as Assigned and Directed by Management
Skills and Qualifications
- 7 years minimum experience in water and wastewater projects, preferably GDOT projects or similar
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work within a team environment
- Knowledge of construction methods and technologies
- Ability to enforce all required federal and state regulations and codes
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Ability to handle physical labor
- Knowledge of jobsite safety practices
- Experience in self-performing concrete construction
- Experience in excavation utilizing a variety of shoring systems
- Experience in water and sewer system mechanical piping installations
- Ability to operate heavy equipment specific to the water / sewer / storm drain sector
Special Requirement Skill
- Candidate must be willing to travel every day to multiple job site locations for long term assignments (truck will be provided)
- Position will wear protective gear (Safety Glasses and Hard Hat, etc. as required) at all times while on job sites. (PPE provided)
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent and a minimum of 10 years of experience or 10 years equivalent practical experience in a related position
