The Design Engineer in Soil Management is responsible for assisting experienced engineers in the CNH Industrial Tillage & Fertilizer Product Lines based in Goodfield to design new products and processes or to improve and maintain existing products. This individual will complete project work under the supervision of more senior engineers working as part of a team. This role collaborates with the other engineering personnel to coordinate the interrelated design and assure timely project completion. The individual in this role may conduct design analysis on components and/or assemblies to assist in the development process by ensuring designs are cost efficient, manufacturable, and reliable.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities / Essential Functions:
- Design, develop and support the integration of vehicle components and/or subsystems for tillage equipment consistent with program objectives and under supervision of more senior engineers as necessary to support product launch.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to coordinate the interrelated design and assure project completion following established design process.
- Collaborate with more senior engineers in coordinating the design review and DFM/DFA processes to ensure manufacturing understanding and to incorporate manufacturing feedback and enable successful industrialization of the completed design.
- Conduct basic design analysis on components and/or assemblies to assist in the development process be ensuring designs are cost effective, manufacturable, and meet quality targets.
- Provide assistance with prototype builds and actively engage in field operations related to the specific design.
- In consultation with more senior engineers, the individual in this position must be learning to develop, maintain, and release necessary system specifications and documentation to be used by both internal and external customers.
- Function effectively in a hybrid (combined on-site/remote) product development team environment with virtual meetings and reviews in addition to essential on-site activities
- Travel, as necessary, to CNH facilities, supplier facilities, field test locations, and customer locations in order to learn or provide support for problem resolution, design alternatives, or failure analysis activities.
- This position pays $60,000 to $87,000 (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.)
Qualifications
Education/Experience/Knowledge Requirements:
The qualified candidate will have:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Agricultural Engineering
The preferred candidate will have:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
- General knowledge of basic agricultural equipment or off-road vehicle design
- Working knowledge of general computer applications (Excel, Word, etc.)
- Ability to function effectively in a hybrid product development team environment where team members and supporting functions may be remote or physically located in other regions, countries or time zones.
- Ability / availability to be on-site as required by job activities with reasonable notice
- Must have the ability to travel approximately 5-10%
