About the Role

Coalition is looking for an actuary to help build out a world-class pricing team. This role comes with a significant amount of ownership and demands a high level of technical skill paired with strong communication. You will be responsible for many key actuarial pricing functions across the cyber and executive risk lines; including rate development, rate indications, trend analysis and admitted state filings. Additional focus areas include assisting with one-off analyses, carrier communication and cross-team collaboration to develop new ways to model and understand risk. We’re looking for someone who can bring unique ideas to the table, explore new methods/techniques and has a genuine desire to be creative and push the boundaries.
 
This is a remote position that can be based anywhere in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other members of the team to build and maintain our rate manuals to ensure rate adequacy and favorable risk selection. 
  • Build out rate indication and trend process, including communication to key stakeholders
  • Identify areas for improvement in our pricing and propose potential solutions
  • Lead countrywide admitted rate filings. Responsibilities include: preparing actuarial rate justification, objection handling and communication with state DOIs, internal communication with engineering and product to ensure rates are implemented correctly and on time.
  • Provide actuarial assistance on internal projects and initiatives as required
  • Contribute and grow the culture of actuarial excellence on our team by bringing mature empathy, best practices, and processes to our organization.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 4 years of P&C actuarial pricing experience
  • Passed 4 exams, actively pursuing designation or have completed designation 
  • Expert Excel proficiency
  • Experience with R or Python and SQL 
  • Strong communication and collaboration, ability to work cross functionally 
  • Strong actuarial pricing background, ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast paced environment, be creative and think outside the box

Bonus Points

  • Cyber and/or executive liability experience 
  • Management Experience 
  • ACAS or FCAS designation
  • Strong technical skills in Python, R and SQL

Compensation

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The US base salary for this position ranges from $95,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $135,000/year in our highest geographic market. Consistent with applicable laws, an employee's pay within this range is based on a number of factors, which include but are not limited to relevant education, skills, job-related knowledge, qualifications, work experience, credentials, and/or geographic location. Your recruiter can share more on target salary for your location during the interview process. Coalition, Inc. reserves the right to modify this range as needed.
