Cash Application Specialist

Description

The Cash Application Specialist is responsible for auditing and applying payments to patient accounts.  The selected individual will ensure policies and procedures related to reimbursement activities are followed, such as cash application, fee disputes, refunds/takebacks. The Cash Application Specialist is required to ensure accurately and timely posting of payments daily. This position is accountable for achieving related operational goals and attaining sustainable results focusing specifically on accounts receivable.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Complete accurate posting of funds, to the correct patient, date of service and procedure.  
• Work assigned aging reports to ensure timely payments, fee schedule disputes are identified, and ensure cash posting is accurate.
• Identify claim denials and payment trends on claims, and work with fee schedule team to ensure accurate fees are on file.
• Maintain at least 99% accuracy on posting of funds.
• All payments must be properly applied to patient accounts prior to close of business on the last day of the month.
• Answer patient phone calls received via the Corporate Collections phone line, audit accounts, answer questions, process and apply payments to patient accounts.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Must have a strong knowledge of fee schedules and insurance policies.
• Experience in dental collections is preferred.
• Must be accurate, organized and detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
• This position requires strong computer knowledge with an emphasis on MS Office suite and EagleSoft.
• Ability to work independently with little supervision.

Qualifications (Experience, Education, Licensure, Certification)

• Associates degree and/or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 1 year of medical or dental collections experience. 

Working Conditions

Cash Application Specialist will work in areas that are highly visible and designed and furnished to make a good impression. Most work stations are clean, well-lighted, and relatively quiet. Work is primarily sedentary in nature.
