What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Integrations Engineer position at Coast?
Coast is re-imagining the trillion-dollar U.S. B2B card payments infrastructure, with a focus on the country’s 500,000 commercial fleets, 10 million commercial vehicles, and 4 million commercial drivers. The incumbent technologies that cater to these customers are decades old, and drivers and fleets increasingly demand modern digital experiences and affordable and transparent financial services products. Coast's mission is to deliver them at a transformational scale, beginning with the Coast Fleet and Fuel Card built on a cutting-edge spend management platform.
The Lead Integrations Engineer is a very hands-on role that will steer the execution on Coast’s product, reporting to the Director of Product. Customers depend on our product to save them time and money, and integrations are critical to the success of that mission. By building and maintaining a wide suite of integrations that are powerful, intuitive, and reliable, we will create a best-in-class offering that attracts new customers and makes lifelong promoters of our existing ones. You will be the owner of our ecosystem of integrations and the key internal customer of our public API platform to inform what needs to be built. If you have engineering and product management experience, are smart and creative, and are excited about the rewards of a venture-backed startup, we'd love to hear from you.
Responsibilities:
- Manage external integrations, while strategically expanding our public API platform
- Work with Engineering, Sales, Support, and our customers to prioritize, design, and rapidly deliver integrations to systems such as fleet management, vehicle telematics, accounting, HRIS, and more
- Establish relationships with external vendors and their integration teams to facilitate design and development, while also working with Coast’s Product Marketing team to enable go-to-market strategy
- Manage an agile backlog and work with the development team by writing user stories and participating in backlog grooming sessions, standups, retros, etc.
- Work with design to create a first-class user experience for all delivered features
- Coordinate with other product teams to manage dependencies
- Build individual integrations by doing the necessary hands-on engineering work
- Establish patterns and build common tooling to be used by the dozens of other integrations
- Guide the work of less experienced engineers working on the integrations, maintaining the bar for quality through code and design reviews
- Ensure resiliency, availability, and performance of integrations over time by building observability in and establishing alerting
Requirements:
- 2-4 years experience as a software engineer
- Hands-on experience with a language ecosystem (writing code, testing, building, packaging, deployment and monitoring)
- Experience with various integration patterns (e.g. API, files, webhooks) and authentication/authorization patterns (e.g. OAuth2, API keys)
- Able to work independently with little oversight or management in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with high-energy and mission-driven colleagues
Compensation:
Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry, and are one part of our total compensation package that also includes benefits, signing bonus, and equity. Pay decisions are based on a number of factors, including scope and qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to other Coast employees. We expect the majority of the candidates who are offered roles at Coast to fall healthily within the range based on these factors.
- Salary range: $130,000 - $165,000 annually
- Signing bonus
- Equity grant: commensurate with level determined at the discretion of the company, with meaningful potential upside given the company’s early stage
- Benefits overview:
- Medical, dental and vision insurance
- Unlimited paid time off (vacation, personal well being, paid holidays)
- Paid parental leave
- $400 accessories allowance for home office setup to be spent on a keyboard, mouse, headphones, etc.
