Code.org is a nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to computer science in K-12 schools and increasing participation by young women and students from other underrepresented groups. Our vision is that every student in every school has the opportunity to learn computer science as part K-12. The leading provider of K-12 computer science solutions in the largest school districts in the United States, Code.org also created the annual Hour of Code campaign, which has engaged more than 15% of all students in the world!

Code.org is looking for a VP for Marketing with 10 years of experience in leading corporate marketing efforts (technology company preferred) to join our executive team and help us grow Code.org's audience to reach one billion students via curriculum change in schools globally. You will be responsible for managing one of the biggest and most innovative brands in global education.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESIn this role you will:
- Set and drive the organization's marketing vision and strategy, and partnering with other leaders across the organization to drive growth.
- Create, drive, and launch high-profile and high-reach global campaigns to drive broad awareness of Code.org (such as Hour of Code like campaigns), change stereotypes in CS (getting more young women participating in the courses), and activate key audiences toward action.
- Grow Code.org's reach via earned media and speaking opportunities - by seeking, winning, and managing relationships with traditional press, celebrities, influencers, thought leaders in education, and corporate or nonprofit partners.
- Grow our owned media channels to teachers, parents, and students to further our mission and then developing strategies and tactics to utilize them to become champions for Code.org and CS.
- Manage and steward the Code.org brand across all communications channels and media, including different stakeholders within Code.org.
- Be responsible for PR aspects of crisis management
- Manage a team of ~10 across comms and PR, marketing content and videos, social media, events, and more.
- Support Code.org programs across government affairs, US and global education programs, and fundraising.
We seek candidates who have:
- Experience leading a 10-15 person or larger consumer marketing team with a technology or similar company
- Experience growing awareness via earned media - via PR, celebrities, influencers, and events, specifically looking for candidates that will bring a network of connections to the organization
- Demonstrated ability to influence via superior written and verbal communication skills along with executive presence
- Ambition Persistence (aka "hustle") - ambition to achieve transformative partnerships to achieve dreams, dissatisfied with incrementalism, and persistence through challenges
- Execution excellence - personally setting a culture of accountable execution.
- Creativity - generating (or sourcing) ideas that can grow reach and engage and inspire millions.
- Tech-savvy - familiar with basic Web technologies, social media platforms, data-driven marketing, typical tools used for managing marketing and conversion across channels (email, web, social media, etc)
- Data driven - setting clear marketing growth metrics and goals, and driving execution that is accountable to results
In addition, candidates must:
- Be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Pass a pre-employment background check
- Be willing to travel a minimum of two times per year for team events
Step 1: Informational Interview - learn more about the role and share your experience (1 hour)
Step 2: Homework (1-3 hours)
Step 3: First Round of Interviews with several members of the Code.org team (4 hours)
Step 4: Second Round of Interviews with several members of the Code.org team (2.5 hours)
Step 5: In-person work session and final interviews with the Code.org Executive Team (~4 hours)
Step 6: Reference Checks
With the exception of the final round interviews, all interviews are currently being conducted virtually via Zoom
