Education Developer / Mentor

This is a hybrid role, and a unique opportunity we believe. Codence is searching for a FileMaker Developer (open to various levels of experience) to support our Apprenticeship program and help us expand it.

For us, we're consultants first: we look for people with strong written and oral communication, friendly, with a primary focus on serving others.

You should be willing to learn from and share knowledge with the team, with clients, and with the community at large. We're looking for someone to coach and manage our apprentices, to lead by example, to be technologically curious, and to work with our partners, including Claris.

We work with dozens of clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to small businesses, and we take on a few pro bono projects as we can. We work independently, flexibly, and make time for family, friends, and other pursuits. We try to walk the walk when it comes to managing by mutual agreement.

What's the Role?

Serve as a leader, both within Codence and in the community at learge, to grow our Apprenticeship Program. Lead by example.

• Lead – Collaborate with a cross-functional team to grow the program. Develop strategy, measure results, track budgets, define success.
• Develop – This is a hybrid role: you'll need to serve clients, build solutions, and be "in the business". We'll expect you to meet billable hours targets. Write great code.
• Mentor – Teach, train, guide, support our apprentices. Coordinate schedules and work-study assignments. Create new curricula.
• Improve – It will be your job to get better at your job, help your teammates get better at theirs, and help Codence get better at its.
• Sell – This isn't a sales position, but you'll need to help close new clients into the program, manage an active social media presense, assist with marketing, and evangelize.

Preferred Specs

• 5 years experience as a FileMaker Developer, ideally as a consultant.
• FileMaker Certification required (or within 3 months of coming on board).
• Mentoring experience leading and coaching others.
• Big plus: experience writing training materials
• Another plus: marketing experience, social media experience, sales experience.
• Ability to work with project management/Agile software. Familiarity with Jira is a very strong plus.
• Experience with requirements gathering, cost estimating, and scope preparation for software projects.
• Strong understanding of relational database design, FileMaker development practices, deployment and support.
• And the best candidates will care about interfaces — bring strong UX/UI talents or at least aspire to.
