Position summary:
Strong operational leader who will develop, implement and manage policies, programs, systems and procedures to meet client needs and the company’s growth and profitability objectives. Provides direct supervision to Publication Services staff and ensures that the department is properly staffed, motivated and coordinated to perform duties effectively to achieve goals and maintain a high degree of client satisfaction. Oversees and guides the direction of product enhancements and improvements, increasing client satisfaction, retention and profitability.
Essential job functions:
- Manages day-to-day operations of Publication Services department and staff to ensure that they perform duties effectively and efficiently as measured by key performance indicators.
- Oversees overall client satisfaction and retention. Formulates programs, systems and procedures that meet client needs and the company’s growth and profitability objectives.
- Manages Project Coordinators and Workflow Specialists to ensure that project profitability targets are met and implementation schedules function effectively.
- Coaches and monitors employee performance and holds staff accountable for outcomes while encouraging professional development and ongoing training.
- Oversees the quality and accuracy of all publication content and design.
- Works closely with the sales team to identify new product opportunities based on company strengths, competitive risks, market and technology changes, and existing client needs.
- Leads the creation of plans and review of internal proposals to ensure management approval is achieved for new initiatives.
- Manages changes in departmental direction and maintains a staff environment that fosters receptivity to change and openness to continual review of quality and efficiency.
- Participates as a member of the Executive Management Council. Reports monthly on the productivity and capacity of Publication Services and relays appropriate achievements and challenges in the department.
- Understands, maintains and adheres to all Coffey policies and communicates policy expectations to staff. Ensures that staff comply with all HIPAA policies and procedures.
Other responsibilities:
- Stays current with developments in communication techniques and applications related to design, layout and illustration.
- Assists sales and marketing team in securing important accounts, including attending sales presentations and trade shows, responding to RFPs, and demonstrating the products and services.
- Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either orally or in writing.
Education, experience and skills required:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, public relations, communications, journalism, English or related field, or equivalent education is required.
- Seven to 10 years of experience in business operations, managing personnel—preferably across multiple disciplines within creative services, publishing or advertising.
- Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage the department, handle multiple projects and meet deadlines. Ability to lead and pursue projects independently while exercising good judgment and creativity.
- Highly developed skills in fostering synergy, enthusiasm and optimism in the workplace, while being firm and decisive about meeting policies, procedures, deadlines and goals. Ability to collaborate with and motivate staff in a positive and respectful manner to foster effective teamwork.
- Strong understanding of what makes a publication effective with regard to both design and copy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with aptitude toward exceptional customer service.
- Ability to adapt quickly, meet deadlines and deliver results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to travel to visit with prospects and clients.
