Summary: Responsible for managing the facility’s utility generation system operations on a 24/7 basis
Responsibilities
· Maintain high on-time reliability of all of the facility’s utilities including: steam boilers, chillers, air compressors, cooling towers, process water systems, hot oil systems, plant fire protection systems, and hot glycol systems through close communication with the facility’s maintenance and engineering departments.
· Monitor boiler operations and maintain required logs
· Identify and correct any boiler operating problems
· Monitor daily utility equipment operations and ensure correction of any mechanical issues.
· Monitor plant fire systems and implement any required PM
· Support maintenance in repairs of minor process equipment when needed
· Maintain containment ponds at appropriate levels in conjunction with QHSE
· Maintain equipment histories in CMMS
· In conjunction with the maintenance, implement preventative maintenance procedures for all utilities and support systems.
· Troubleshoot and correct the facility’s utility systems problems in conjunction with production and engineering.
· Ensure that the filial’s utility systems are operated and maintained in a manner consistent with both Firmenich and filial specific safety policies and procedures and all regulatory requirements.
· Perform other duties as assigned
Profile
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Minimum Blue Seal high pressure steam boiler operator license
· Minimum 5 years of experience in a chemical plant environment
· Experience with the plant services including boilers, chillers, cooling towers, air compressors and hot oil systems
· Experience with preventative and predictive maintenance techniques
· Strong mechanical aptitude with hands on experience.
· Ability to work independently in a team environment
· Ability to work 12 hours, 7-day shift rotation
· Minimum current N.J. Blue Seal, Stationary Engineer Operators license for high pressure boilers.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be:
· Some experience in Microsoft Office and Excel, and CMMS systems.
· Proficient in interfacing with and troubleshooting electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic controls and instrumentation for boilers, chillers, air compressors and associated equipment.
Ability to read, interpret and understand technical procedures, schematics, and vendor certified documents. Ability to read and understand governmental regulations and company policy and procedures. Ability to write business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, co-workers, customers, vendors and the general workforce.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
