The Product Development Configuration Analyst is responsible for ensuring that client provided Engineering Instructions (EIs) are acknowledged, processed, and verified in a timely and accurate manner.  The Product Development Configuration Analyst facilitates the transfer of engineering change information between the external client and our internal team so that the client need is managed and implemented on completed, in-process, and future pieces of equipment as mutually agreed upon between organizations. 


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Architect a configurable methodology to capture, track, implement, and manage EIs for highly configurable products, beginning with a specific client and a specific product in an engineering pilot build environment.   
    • The methodology may be applied in the future to other clients and other products in various phases of development.
    • Other phases include, but are not limited to, alpha & beta prototype builds
    • Each customer may require adjustments to the process to satisfy their business needs
  • Develop a working knowledge of client provided EI format, type of information contained within the notice, how to read change, impact and disposition.
  • Work directly with design & manufacturing engineering to understand and process EIs that require part and assembly level changes and/or modifications.
    • Implement minor design changes in commercial CAD software, and release to the next revision level
    • Implements documentation changes in a PDM controlled environment
    • Collaborates directly with external client’s engineers, and supporting staff members, to ensure that EIs are implemented correctly
  • Work with purchasing and supply chain to ensure that the disposition of EIs gets handled promptly and accurately.
  • Work with indented Bills of Material (BOM) to properly capture and document client requested changes.
    • Ensure that all relevant information required to procure material is specified on BOM
    • Communicate completed EIs to all personnel involved (assembly floor management, supply chain, engineers, quality, program management, etc.)
  • Perform analysis of implemented processes.
    • Provide recommendations for continuous improvement to management
    • Develop and maintain key EI resolution performance metrics

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7 years’ experience working with capital equipment product development and manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working collaboratively with product development engineers.
  • Working experience with SolidWorks, PDM, MS Office, and MRP/ERP systems.  Experience with Epicor is a plus.
  • Ability to be flexible with a variety of customer-driven processes.
  • Understanding of the cross functionality (or limitations) of Epicor, Omnify, and EPDM a plus.
  • Good technical aptitude and basic understanding of electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Self-starter that can work effectively within a defined process, and encourages process adherence to both internal and external engineers and staff.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Generally works in an office environment and engineering lab environment. Occasional local travel required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Interaction with people and technology while either standing or sitting.
  • Must be able to communicate face-to-face and on the phone.
