The Team: Logistics Solutions Engineering This position is in the Solutions Engineering team of the Logistics Department, which is responsible for designing the electro-mechanical and opto-mechanical solutions revolving around the product portfolio offered by Cognex. We implement custom deployment methods where needed but highlight standardization and productization where possible. Optics, lighting, mechanical fit, location, alignment, and integration of electrical components come together to allow for 2D scanning (barcodes), and 3D vision applications. These solutions will incorporate cameras, illumination, optical paths, mirror usage for accommodating space and working distance constraints, as well as ease of installation to increase the efficiency at the installation location. Essential Functions: Generate custom solutions based on provided specifications via Solidworks CAD Modeling Assist on established solutions with documentation and implementation Assist on testing and documentation of assorted optical pursuits – focus capabilities of reader/lens assemblies, lighting parameterization, etc. Assist with bracket and/or fixture design with 3D printing of prototypes Knowledge, Skills , and Abilities: Familiarity with mechanical design and electro-mechanically inclined Experience with 3D-CAD software, specifically SolidWorks Creation and maintenance of drawings, Bills of Materials, and CAD models/assemblies Excellent time-management & pro-active communication skills Ability to work independently and be self-sufficient to enable timely design completion; retrieve design input information from written specifications, engineers’ markups and sketches, as well as engineer’s commentary. Collaboration with an interdisciplinary team of technical and non-technical individuals Process design input information from written specifications to deliver finished designs Ability to multitask projects in a dynamic and fast-moving industry.
