Mailroom/Scanner Operator
Position roles/responsibilities:
- The Mailroom Clerk position primarily opens and sorts documents before each one is scanned and converted to a digital image.
- Mailroom Clerks check out tubs containing a certain number of envelopes or documents. Then, sorts documents into predetermined categories in a prescribed manner removing staples and taping documents to ensure they can be fed into a scanner properly.
- They are also responsible for using a scan gun to scan barcodes and answer prompts in order to print sheets that are linked to a set of documents before going into scanning.
- The candidate will also be responsible for finding documents, after they have been scanned, that require rescanning and those that need to be sent to other facilities or back to the sender.
- The candidate may be required to lift boxes up to 50lbs to and from shelving units.
- Other duties may be assigned by the Team Leader.
- The operating hours are 6:00AM to 4:00PM Monday-Friday, however, we have a clean desk policy. Therefore, overtime may be required on heavy volume days with short notice.
Specific job skills/Core competencies/ Experience:
- Organizational skills: helps maintain case logs and databases; required elements of quality improvement projects and compliance requirements.
- Communication skills: must speak clearly and confidently on the phone and in person.
- Demonstrated attention to detail.
Basic qualifications for this position include:
- Minimum Education: high school
- Efficiency and Productivity: be able to meet productivity expectations
- Experience in mail room/clerical field.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk prolonged distances; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel and crouch. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
