In this position you will performs manual work associated directly with the performance of a variety of custodial, grounds and campus related tasks. Overall work responsibilities are identified by the Campus Manager; however, this position will be expected to adjust his/her daily routine in order to meet immediate, non-routine (special events) and emergency requests as necessary to provide services commensurate with this position. The Lead Custodian will coordinate and monitor stock, cleaning supplies and equipment needed to perform work. This position will report to the Campus Manager and may also direct the work of and receive assistance from student help, temporary help, or work study personnel. The Lead Custodian will work 25 hours a week, Monday – Thursday 4:30pm – 10:30pm and Saturdays as needed. Schedule can be flexible. Essential Duties Perform routine cleaning duties within the Madison College facilities and other leased or owned off campus facilities to include but not limited to the following: Dust, sweep and mop all hard floors; vacuum and spot clean carpeted surfaces and rugs; clean and empty all waste receptacles; dust, clean and polish all furniture, desks and cabinets in all offices, classroom and common areas; clean and sanitize restrooms and fixtures; clean up spills and other messes, including bio-hazards, as required; strip, mop and wax all hard floors; deep clean all floors, furniture and other surfaces as required; clean and dust woodwork, walls and fixtures; clean and spot clean all windows; clean all entrances, lobbies, lounges and exit areas; clean and shampoo carpets and rugs; place and clean walk off mats as needed. Perform routine non-cleaning duties within the Madison College facilities, and other leased or owned off campus facilities, to include but not limited to the following: Perform room set-ups and tear-downs for scheduled events; open/close building as required; order, restock and maintain inventory levels of custodial supplies; pick-up and sort recycle materials; perform shipping and receiving duties for campus materials to include distribution of supplies, mail delivery and courier services between sites; complete work orders and other administrative paper work; update doors with one card data; repair and maintain carpet, as needed; act as point of contact for campus when campus office is closed; assist in providing a safe and secure environment on campus for all students, staff, faculty and visitors; respond to fire and security alarms; serve as a liaison with any outside security vendor; perform wall maintenance and painting; perform forklift operation for deliveries and moving items where forklifts are available; perform routine maintenance on mechanical instructional materials as needed; perform grounds maintenance and upkeep duties as needed in support of ensuring safe access to facilities and maintaining appearance in support of contracted services. Ensure that the walks and approaches to the building are free from snow and ice as needed in between visits from the snow removal contractors; provide additional campus security for students, faculty, and staff; assist office staff with emergency procedures in emergency situations. Other duties as defined by department, college, or officials. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written with both internal and external stakeholders. Knowledge of basic electricity, plumbing and maintenance procedures. Knowledge of proper use of hand and small power tools associated with custodial tasks. Knowledge of basic safety procedures associated with custodial and maintenance tasks. Knowledge of basic microcomputers. Knowledge of small engine repair and maintenance. Knowledge of chemical safety, OHSA regulations, blood-borne pathogens, and hazardous material regulations as required for the position. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma, GED or equivalent Three (3) years work experience, directly related to the skills required for successfully performing the duties of this position. Forklift certification must be obtained within the first 6-months of hire. Madison College does not offer H-1B or other work authorization visa sponsorship for this position.
