Job Summary
Midland Asphalt Materials Inc., a subsidiary of Barrett Industries Corporation, provides advanced pavement preservation solutions for our customers’ needs. We are currently looking for Laborers out of our Lyons, NY or Tonawanda, NY locations. This job pays NYS state prevailing wage with a minimum of $30.65/hour.
Main Responsibilities
- General laborer duties associated with asphalt paving
- Cleaning and preparing the construction site and pavement surfaces
- Safely maintain traffic control including flagging duties
- Keep equipment and tools in good working condition
- Work in a team oriented environment
- Perform other duties as assigned to assist the crew
Qualifications and Physical Requirements
- Must have a valid Driver's License and good driving record
- Possession of valid CDL is preferred
- Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by Company safety guidelines
- Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
- Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain
- Frequent exposure to loud noise
- Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles
- Regularly exposed to extended periods of physical activity in extreme heat
- Regularly exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals
- Required to work varying hours, including nights/weekends, and overnight travel may be required
