What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Estimator position at Cold Core Group?
Summary: Reporting to the EVP of Business Development & Engineering Solutions, the Asst. Estimator is responsible for assisting the estimating department with all facets of the bidding process and supporting project management efforts as needed. This position is committed to delivering exceptional customer service throughout the process to all stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Collect and maintain certain cost database information to assist with performing take-offs as part of the estimating process.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and/or visit potential job sites to gather information (blueprints, specifications, measurements, etc.) needed for estimates.
- Transmit required bid information to subcontractors and vendors to help them prepare supporting information for estimates.
- Assist with certain administrative and documentations requirements to support estimating and project reviews, pre-job and post job meetings.
- Support Project Coordinators in helping to facilitate the construction process and coordination of projects to ensure achievement of goals relating to budget, safety, schedule and quality.
- Assist in maintaining positive customer relationships by responding to internal and external inquiries or concerns promptly and professionally.
- Other duties as assigned
Position Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1 year experience in construction/mechanical industry and/or project management , including experience with a general contractor
- Exceptional organizational, time management and communication skills
- Demonstrated advanced mathematical skills, with a strong propensity for analytics
- Comprehensive problem-solving abilities
- Team player with the ability to collaborate effectively across department and divisions.
- Proactive and self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and grow.
- Superior time management, organization, delegation, and prioritization skills for juggling numerous time sensitive projects simultaneously
- Technical aptitude to learn new systems/processes
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with a variety of tasks with limited oversight/supervision.
- Demonstration of a high attention to detail, while simultaneously being able to create processes where none may exist.
- Previous experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel abilities
- Previous experience using estimating software; Quotesoft experience is strongly preferred
- Previous experience using accounting software; Computer Ease (CE) is strongly preferred
- Have a general understanding of industrial refrigeration fundamentals
- Valid driver’s license with proof of insurance to travel to customer sites.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Industrial refrigeration/mechanical contractor industry experience a plus
- Project Management Certification (PMP, CAPM, CPMP)
- Estimating Software Experience (Quote soft)
Working Conditions: Regularly working in an office environment, however, may have occasional visits to construction job sites which may have exposure to potentially hazardous materials and noisy conditions. Occasional travel to regional customers less than 20% of their time.
