Director of Finance

We are seeking an experienced professional to oversee this team as our Director of Finance. The ideal candidate will have proven industry experience as a Finance Manager or Accountant, preferably in a senior role. The Director of Finance is a reliable professional with broad knowledge of accounting, financial and business principles. They are strategic thinkers and effective leaders who can make sound business decisions.

Objectives of this Role

• Maintain constant awareness of the company’s financial position and act to proactively solve issues.
• Provide comprehensive financial updates to senior management by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate metrics.
• Guide financial decisions by applying company policies and procedures to current economic landscape.
• Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelines.
• Achieve budgeting goals with proper scheduling, analysis, and corrective action.
• Help develop and support short and long-term operational strategies.

Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor cash flow, accounts, and other financial transactions.
• Oversee Year End, Quarter End and Month End close processes and ensure completion in a timely manner.
• Prepare timely and detailed reports on financial performance on a quarterly and annual basis.
• Conduct analysis to make forecasts and report to upper executives.
• Ensure adherence to financial laws and guidelines.
• Assist in annual budgetary planning.
• Supervise Finance and Accounting team in the facilitation of day-to-day operations, including tracking financial data, invoicing, payroll.
• Monitor and confirm financial condition by conducting audits and providing information to external auditors.
• Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.

Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or related field.
• Professional accounting certification, including CPA, CMA, CGA, or CA.
• Working knowledge of finance law and regulatory standards (GAAP).
• Strong understanding of economic and banking processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3 years of experience as a senior-level accounting or finance manager preferably within a professional services organization.
• Strong working knowledge of detailed financial data analysis.
• Proven payroll experience, with a focus on streamlining accounting processes.
• 5 years progressive experience at a large public accounting firm.
• Exemplary history of financial project management.
• Working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance regulations and reporting.
• Experience with QuickBooks Online or similar accounting software package.
