What are the responsibilities and job description for the 4-H Outreach Coordinator position at Collier County?
To serve as a community representative of 4-H programs. Builds relationships with the Collier County School Systems, private schools, and homeschooled youth to promote the use of 4-H research-based, learn by doing materials, as well as club development. Plans outreach camps and events and provides classroom to introduce and teach 4-H curriculum.
- Meets with program specialists, teacher team leaders, individual teachers, and 4-H club volunteer leaders to promote programs.
- Reviews and learns 4-H curriculum and materials in preparation for teaching the content.
- Plans outreach camps and events; provides classroom introduction to 4-H youth and non-4-H youth.
- Attends community meetings and events; hosts 4-H information tables; promotes and attends fair events; attends in-house meetings when scheduled to provide topic-specific education. Schedules classroom and other teaching events; Communicates, verbal and written, with adults and students.
- Promotes school enrichment; collects student data, and completes documentation on each teaching event, and submits reports to the 4-H Agent. Serves as program leader.
- Attends weeklong summer events to represent Collier County at major 4-H events.
- Works with the 4-H Agent, attends 4-H team meetings, and helps the agent to prepare for major events.
- Participates in evening and weekend programs as part of the 40-hour week as required.
- Willing to become a facilitator of environmental curriculums to train teachers on the use of the materials.
- Assists and actively participates in major annual and overall County Extension events and other Extension programming area events (examples - Farm Tour, Annual Yard and Garden Show). Performs special projects and other related duties as required.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- One (1) year of related experience.
- Fingerprinting required.
- Experience in youth education preferred.
- Bilingual preferred.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License with any applicable endorsement(s) to drive a County vehicle as provided in CMA 5805.
- Salary offers above the minimum pay grade may be considered based on qualifications.
- Essential Employees may be required to work during an undeclared or declared emergency. The County’s Administrative Office will determine who will be required to work on an incident-by-incident basis.
