This position is for an Avionics Technician within the Atlanta, GA Service Center. Responsible to perform testing, troubleshooting, repair and modification of various moderate to complex electronic / avionics equipment in accordance with Collins Aerospace Workmanship and Quality Standards, including products returned from airlines, dealers, airframes and/or end users for service under close or general supervision, depending on Labor Grade.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Sets up and operates precision test equipment for alignment, troubleshooting and testing of electrical equipment and systems. Possesses a working knowledge of standard test equipment, oscilloscopes, ohmmeters, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, etc., as well as a working knowledge of custom made test equipment, including automated test equipment.
• Has a basic understanding of advanced test equipment functions. Capable of reprogramming equipment and determines possible failures.
• Aligns and adjusts advanced electrical components on units being tested to ensure proper functioning of electrical circuits, utilizing established test procedures.
• Conducts a variety of functional tests to check operation and calibration of test stations, components, equipment and systems.
• Analyzes circuitry and physically checks wiring and operation of various electronic parts, units and systems components necessary to locate malfunction source during testing of components, equipment or systems.
• Performs difficult electrical / mechanical repair operations consisting of disassembly and assembly of units. Determines requirements and installs modifications as set forth by Service Bulletin or other authorized documentation.
Basic Qualifications:
This position requires either:
• An AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a HS diploma, GED or AA/AS degree, 8 years of relevant experience is required OR
• A Bachelor's degree in the appropriate discipline and 2 years of relevant experience.
• US Citizenship is required.
• RF experience is a plus.
• Previous bench and avionics experience is a plus.
• Must have a basic set of hand-tools.
