Collins Aerospace is seeking hire a Mechanical Repair Technician I to perform technical/mechanical/ inspection functions pertaining to the aircraft wheel and brake component overhaul process.

Position is 100% onsite at our Foley, AL location.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Rework and repair assembled equipment and products according to engineering specification changes

  • Perform all work in accordance with quality standards and established safety procedures.

  • Tests parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product specifications.

  • Identifies units that fail tests or tolerance levels; repairs as necessary.

  • Follows repair and return processes to ensure high quality and short cycle time of repair and return.

  • Sets up necessary repair and test facilities.

  • Lift and carry up to 40 pounds.

  • Able to work in a standing position up to minimum of 8 hours per day

  • Safely perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Experience Needed:

  • High School Diploma, GED or AA/AS degree OR Other 2-year post high school training OR In absence of a diploma or degree, must have 2 years of relevant manufacturing, assembly, and/or construction / facilities experience.

  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required: https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-22/chapter-I/subchapter-M/part-120/subpart-C/section-120.62

  • Experience with general hand and/or power tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams and engineering drawings to assemble equipment.

  • Experience with any of the following: hand tools, electrical tools, hand cutters, measuring equipment, light equipment, drill motors and power tools

  • Automotive repair work experience such as the overhaul of engines or paint & body work

  • Aviation mechanical experience.

  • Ability to pass a PIV (Powered Industrial Vehicle) medical examination as required.

  • Familiarity with operating forklift and overhead crane.

  • Self-directed & action oriented with the ability to work in a team environment to resolve most questions and problems.
