Overview:
Colossal Media is looking for a strategic thinker and creative mastermind to become art director at our Brooklyn-based studio. This role is responsible for fortifying and maintaining our visual identity across all touch points: client pitches, sales collateral, brand communication, partnership materials, and digital platforms. Additionally, the art director will lead conceptual, out-of-the-box thinking to diversify creative offerings on, off, and around our walls. The art director will manage and mentor our team of in-house and freelance designers, and will report to the director of creative strategy.
Core responsibilities:
- Conceptualize, develop, execute, and refine all design initiatives for clients, Colossal, and partners, including pitch decks, sales collateral, internal documentation, event materials, and merchandise
- Lead creative thinking to diversify client offerings on, off, and around walls
- Manage and mentor in-house and freelance design team to increase efficiency and inspire creativity
- Work with junior creative strategist to create weekly social media content to populate relevant channels
- Work with director of creative strategy to lead design and optimization for new website, and oversee regular updates to web pages
- Work with director of creative strategy to develop brand guidelines document, to be shared company-wide
- Represent the creative team in client pitches when appropriate
- Streamline cross-functional communication by developing new systems to increase efficiency, improve clarity, and reduce miscommunication
- Own or delegate project management for department deadlines
- Set and adhere to deadlines for all projects
Requirements:
- Minimum of 6+ years of experience in a design role (agency experience highly preferred)
- Strong portfolio of diverse creative work
- Self-motivated individual who can manage deliverables on time and within budget
- Proficient in Adobe Suite
- Collaborative team player who enjoys learning and teaching
- Strong conceptual skills and ability to form ideas and direct a clear vision
