Summary:
Colton RV’s Summer Internship program gives students the opportunity to experience and participate in day-to-day operations at all 3 of our dealerships in North Tonawanda, Orchard Park, and Blasdell, New York. The program will provide opportunities to several students to spend 8 weeks at our dealerships working in each of our departments to gain experience in and knowledge of the daily workings of an automotive RV dealership. The internship program is a paid opportunity that will also provide living arrangements for out of town students. Requirements:
The following will be required of anyone interested in Colton RV’s Summer Internship Program:
- 2 forms of Identification proving authorization to work in the United States
- School ID to prove current college student status
- Must be able to pass drug screen and background check before starting
Colton RV Internship Details
Colton RV’s internship will take place over the course of eight weeks each year from June through July. The first 6 weeks of the program will include working in each of the departments listed above and a trip to our manufacturing partners’ sites in Elkhart, IN. During weeks 7 and 8, the student will choose one department that interests them and spend their final two weeks working with the team and learning the departmental process more in depth. The schedule breakdown is as follows
Weeks 1-6
- Introduction to Colton RV, Tours of Locations, Presentation of the Colton RV Way
- Introduction to BDC, Sales, Finance, Service, Parts, and Administration
- RV Manufacturing Site Visit to Elkhart, IN
Weeks 7 and 8:
- In depth work in department of choice
- Presentation to Colton RV Executive Team
During the final two weeks of the internship program, the student will be required to prepare a report to present to Colton RV’s executive team about something of interest to them in that department. In most cases, this will be a procedure that they have learned during their time there. On the final day of the program, students will present to the Colton RV executive team something specific about what they believe is beneficial or could be changed and will answer any questions that the team has for them. The student that is selected to have prepared the most impactful presentation will be awarded a scholarship stipend.
Our goal with this program is to provide the student with an in depth look at all of the inner workings of our dealership to assist with their knowledge of RV’s and the automotive industry as a whole. We believe that the best way to learn is to gain knowledge on the job, and we hope to provide the knowledge to students who work with us! We also believe that students provide a unique perspective and that to advance our brand, we will need the help of the best and the brightest who will provide us with a fresh perspective.
Students partaking in the internship program will be expected to work 7-hour days with a paid 30 minute lunch included, 5 days per week. Compensation rate will be $15.50 per hour on a bi-weekly basis in accordance with standard payroll practice. Lodging will be provided to students. If a student will be traveling to Western New York from out of area, transportation costs will also be covered by Colton RV.

The application deadline for this program is April 16th, 2022. If selected to advance, students will be required to go through two separate interviews, one via phone with our recruitment team, and one in person or via Zoom with several members of our executive team. These interviews will be used to determine if you will be selected to partake in our program. If selected, you will then be required to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check. All pertinent information will be communicated to students before their arrival.
