What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Artist II position at Columbia?
As a Production Artist II, you will utilize a healthy mix of design skills with strong technical know-how to problem solve and convert design art files to brand enhancing commercial product that connects the Columbia consumer to their outdoor passions. This will be achieved by working collaboratively with the graphic designer and product engineer. A keen eye for detail, process skills, calendar awareness and collaborative mindset coupled with a proficient knowledge of Adobe applications will ensure success in the development of graphic artwork packages on product that includes graphic tees, apparel, and headwear. You will implement applications, techniques and process to ensure product maintains designs intent and delights our Columbia consumer.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Utilizing your expertise and problem-solving skills to create graphic artwork packages and/or schematics. This will include placement specifications, color comps and separations for AP's.
- Utilize graphic design skills to problem solve any artwork issues that arise during production. Provide image retouching and additional image manipulation. Work with senior production artist to apply graphic solutions to designs if graphic intent cannot be achieved commercially.

- Work with graphic designer to apply seasonal color to graphics. This skill may be creative or prescriptive in regard to the use of the color palette.
- Create visual tools for Waypoints
- Strong verbal and communication skills with design and product development both in person and through email.
- Attend and participate in the strike off review process. Work closely with graphic designer and product developers to track in coming samples, enter comments into database, send feedback to field and make revisions to specs and art as needed. Sets up seasonal tracker for internal and cross-functional use throughout the season
- Helps to create and give input to department processes and best practices that ensure efficient outcomes and first-time right product
- Supports department training as directed
- Performs other duties as assigned
JOB SCOPE
- Support of Global Apparel assortments by commercializing seasonal graphics, color ways, visual documents, and trend presentations
- Works on projects with some complexity and solves problems with limited independence. Work performed will have impact to the global product assortment.
- Internal contacts occur primarily with other members of the Graphic and Apparel design departments, Product Development, Merchandising and Operations. Contacts may involve confidential or sensitive information and can occur face to face or via email.
