What are the responsibilities and job description for the Server position at Columbia?
The Server provides courteous and friendly service of meals to patients, families, guests and employees. He/she also performs a variety of tasks to maintain the kitchen and dining area in a clean and orderly condition. Assists with some aspects of food preparation.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Puts guest service first. Ensures that patients and families receive the highest quality dining service experience in an attentive and responsive atmosphere which recognizes the individuals' needs and rights. Maintains guest confidentiality.
2. Understands daily menu offerings and communicates meal and menu information to guests. Accurately obtains guest meal orders and completes meal tickets accordingly;
3. Serves meals in a timely, courteous and professional manner;
4. Maintains clean, organized and sanitary work areas. Performs dish and ware washing functions as assigned. Performs after-use and scheduled cleaning of surfaces and equipment in accordance with established policies and cleaning procedures;
5. Assists with basic preparation and portioning of foods and beverages as assigned;
6. Operates equipment in a safe manner, reports malfunctioning equipment to supervisor;
7. Sets-up, cleans-up and properly stores food, supplies and dishware needed for meal service in the kitchen, service stations and in dining locations;
8. Adheres to Food and Nutrition Services and Center policies and procedures;
9. Concerns his/herself with the safety of all Center patients in order to minimize the potential for fire and accidents. Also, ensures that the Center adheres to the legal, safety, health, fire and sanitation codes by being familiar with his/her role in carrying out the Center's fire, safety and disaster plans and by being familiar with current MSDS;
10. Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
