Description

Summary:

With minimal supervision from the General Manager, the Site Supervisor is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of an assigned grocery store. Works with department leads and other staff members to ensure the highest standard of cleanliness, appearance, and customer service standards at his/her assigned location.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for all human resources functions related to assigned store location in coordination with the General Manager and Human Resources Department, including interviewing, orientation, training, evaluating performance, corrective/disciplinary action, etc.
  • Manages the day-to-day operations of the store, ensuring appropriate coverage to accommodate hours of operation; drafts work schedules for General Manager’s review and approval, and verifies time and attendance for subordinate employees.
  • Immediately notifies General Manager of any staffing issues that need to be resolved, e.g. training, employee conflicts, discipline, inadequate coverage, additional staffing needs, etc.
  • Meets with Assistant General Manager to ensure the most up-to-date inventory and pricing strategies are understood and implemented in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates inventory needs with the General Manager and Assistant General Manager, verifies deliveries, and ensures products are stocked, fronted, and faced at all times.
  • Ensures all accounting, inventory, and other financial documentation is accurately prepared and submitted to accounting in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Routinely meets with superiors, department leads, and other staff members to discuss and address areas of success and concern.
  • Continually works with and coaches all staff members to strive for optimal level of customer service, cleanliness, and maintenance standards.
  • Meets with superiors to discuss the financial performance of the store, and assists in developing strategies and solutions to solve identified issues.
  • Assists General Manager in the development of the annual operating budget, along with the identification and valuation of capital and equipment needs.
  • Notifies superiors of any operational, maintenance, and/or equipment-related deficiencies so they are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Implements work performances and operational standards for the store and recommends improvement measures to General Manager when needed.
  • Ensures the protection of merchandise and money at all times; monitors and modifies surveillance and/or security systems as needed through appropriate channels.
  • Provides customer service in a professional manner; assists customers and responds to questions and requests in a pleasant, timely, and helpful manner.
  • Addresses customer concerns and complaints and seeks timely and amicable resolutions; will escalate issues to General Manager as necessary.
  • Ensures compliance with all departmental, company, state and federal laws, policies, procedure and any other applicable rules and regulations.
  • Ensures the safety and welfare of all assigned staff; adheres to, and enforces, all established safety standards, ensuring compliance with company safety policies and procedures, TOSHA and OSHA regulations.

Performs other related duties, responsibilities, and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications


Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related discipline, and twenty-four (24) months experience as a shift supervisor or equivalent in a grocery store setting; OR,
  • Associate’s degree in a business-related discipline, and forty-eight (48) months experience as a shift supervisor or equivalent in a grocery store setting; OR,
  • A combination of education and/or experience as a shift supervisor or equivalent in a grocery store setting totaling seventy-two (72) months; applicant’s meeting this requirement must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have excellent inventory management and cash handling experience.
  • Must have excellent customer service and employee relations skills.
  • Ability to provide superior customer service on a consistent basis.
  • Ability to plan, organize, motivate, and train others.
  • Ability to maintain STRICT confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a close knit team.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work irregular hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
  • Must possess a valid Washington State Driver’s License and be eligible for company insurance.
  • Must submit to and successfully clear a thorough background check, including criminal history, employment, and reference verifications.

Physical Demands / Work Environment:

  • Manual and finger dexterity as required to perform daily job duties.
  • Ability to frequently walk and/or stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to frequently bend, squat, stoop, reach, climb and/or crawl.
  • Occasionally works near or around electricity.
  • Frequently works near or around machines and their moving parts.
  • Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Frequently exposed to a high level of noise in the work environment.
  • Frequently exposed to outside weather conditions, including variations in temperature and precipitation.
