What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paralegal/Legal Assistant position at Combs Law Group LLC?
In need of a full time paralegal/legal assistant to assist two attorneys with active practices who focus in criminal defense, as well as civil litigation. We are located in the heart of the Central West End in an old historic mansion, just east of Forest Park and down the street from the new Whole Foods and Shake Shack- with private parking included in the back of our building. This position will come with your own private office with large windows.
Required Job Skills: Organization and a focus on detail is everything. Anyone who is hard working, good with computers and has excellent organization and communication skills both spoken and written- will thrive in this easy going and busy legal practice. Preference (although not a requirement) will be given to those that have familiarity with CaseNet (the E-filing system in Missouri), court calendaring, computer proficiency in Word, Email, electronic files (Microsoft OneDrive) and REJIS. Writing skills are critical as you will be using templates to draft basic legal pleadings as well as drafting letters and emails. No prior experience working in the legal field is required but it is preferred.
Preferred Education: Associates Degree or Paralegal Certificate.
Description of Job Responsibilities: Answering the phone, corresponding with court clerks, organizing and managing the calendar and court dockets, e-filing pleadings, drafting letters and interacting with clients.
The ideal candidate is one who is outgoing, energetic, enjoys staying busy and is good at multi-tasking. Someone who stays organized and has an eye for detail is a must. We are looking for someone who is personable and able to easily communicate with clients and court clerks.
Position details: Full time, Monday through Friday, 9:00 am. to 5:00 p.m. with flexibility. Work attire is business casual, jeans are fine.
Pay and Benefit details: Starting rate pay is dependent on experience and ranges from $15-22/hour. After six (6) months of working, eligible for paid vacation time and paid holidays. Paid cell phone as well.
