Who we’re looking for:
This position will oversee and manage a team of laboratory technicians who will carry out a variety of tasks that includes properly performing, recording and reporting the results of basic laboratory test procedures for soils and concrete (for compaction, particle size, quality, and chemical composition). This position will also perform field technician duties as needed.
Job Responsibilities:
- Supervising and monitoring laboratory activities to ensure that the work is executed in a timely manner and in accordance with the client and project requirements and within company policies, procedures and standards
- Establishing and maintaining an organized and safe work environment
- Providing administrative oversight of the laboratory to ensure that data, reports, and information required to serve the client are accurately reported and completed in a timely manner
- Overseeing the calibration, documentation and maintenance of the laboratory equipment (inventory) to maintain AMRL, AASHTO, and WACEL laboratory accreditation certificates
- Evaluating the performance of all employees within the laboratory and assist staff to achieve professional development and growth, consistent with F&R company policies and procedures
- Performing and overseeing complex laboratory tests on soil, and concrete; and preparing reports of results
- Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
- 5 years of relevant experience
- E. / G.E. or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Requires in-depth knowledge of tests performed by a materials testing laboratory for soils and concrete (ASTM, CTM, AASHTO, VTM)
- Concrete Strength Testing & Soils Laboratory
Core Competencies:
- Ability to organize tasks and priorities to meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams to achieve goals
- Excellent attention to detail
- Valid driver’s license and good-standing driving record
- Some travel will be required
- Must be willing to participate in and pass F&R’s pre-employment screening including a background investigation, drug screening and driving record
