The Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission is looking for a skilled, energetic person to provide front-line customer service, ticket sales, historical interpretation, guided tours, and light housekeeping services at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania. As the Custodial Guide 2, you will be on the front line of customer service daily. You will work the admissions counter, greeting visitors, selling tickets and answering questions. Additionally, you be called upon to give tours, interpreting historic locomotives and rolling stock, and to assist with the presentation of other educational programs and special events. As Custodial Guide 2, you will also perform basic custodial, housekeeping and grounds keeping tasks, ensuring that the site is clean, presentable, and ready to be enjoyed by the tens of thousands of guests who visit each year.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment.
- Work hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Sunday - Saturday, with 60-minute lunch.
- Off every Monday and every other Saturday & Sunday per pay period.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Graduation from High School or equivalent, with one year experience in work involving significant public contact in a group setting.
Necessary Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession a valid Class C motor vehicle operator's license.
- Applicant must have one year of experience conducting tours and/or giving public presentations on historical subjects (guided by PHMC, NPS and NAI standards) at a museum, historic site, park, battlefield or landmark with the mission of preserving and interpreting history.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Experience with cash-handling procedures.
- Experience using a cash register or point-of-sale system.
- Experience basic bookkeeping and office organizational skills.
- Experience with basic custodial and housekeeping work.
- Experience with light grounds keeping work.
- Experience with building security and minor maintenance.
Legal Requirements:
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
- Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
