Supports company quality standards by checking and measuring parts and assemblies for compliance with job documents.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Reads blue prints and travelers to understand what aspect of the job needs to be inspected.
- Determine the proper measurement tool required depending on the feature and tolerance being measured.
- Measure and/or check the parts with the appropriate measuring tools to confirm they are within specification.
- Sign off traveler when parts are acceptable.
- When appropriate follow instructions or procedures for measurement.
- Install fixtures, load parts and run metrology programs on CMM’s.
- Fill out quality forms as required.
- Maintain open communication with the CNC operator, supervisor and management regarding jobs status, problems or any changes to work in process.
- Be observant for changes in the parts being measured to notice trends of declining quality or indications of problems.
- Maintain ISO forms during free time.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Keep work areas organized and clean.
- Documents actions by completing production and quality forms.
- Other duties as needed or required.
Supervision Received:
Regular Supervision. A quality technician can only measure parts after being trained for in-process or first piece inspection.
Qualifications & Skills:

Qualifications & Skills:
- Conscientious, organized and methodical work approach.
- Proficiency using micrometers, calipers and other common shop measuring tools.
- Understanding of the application and limitation of quality department tools.
- Ability to read and interpret blue prints and work instructions.
- Ability to do basic math and an understanding of x, y, z coordinates and geometry. Proficiency in trigonometry is a plus.
- Adequate eyesight and dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities.
- Ability to work on multiple assignments at one time.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and a basic understanding of MS Office applications.
Education / Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Previous quality experience required ( 2 years )
Prior CMM experience preferred
