The Community Education Project has an immediate opening for the following (30 hour a week) position:

POSITION: Community Engagement Specialist (Volunteer Management, Marketing & Sales/Development)

LOCATION: Community Education Project, Holyoke, MA

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) speaking and writing proficiency
  • Proficient oral, written, and electronic communication skills
  • Data Management Skills; highly skilled in tracking, maintaining, and reporting accurate data using multiple platforms
  • Volunteer Management
  • Proven Marketing and Sales experience
  • Ability to manage social media presence and website content
  • Ability to Lead Development Initiatives to secure funding
  • Awareness and sensitivity to low income minority communities
  • Strong belief in the ability for adult learners to thrive given the appropriate resources and support needed to successfully meet their goals
  • Ability to work independently and/or cooperatively as a team member

DUTIES:

Recruit/Screen/Train/Support volunteers & publicize via:

  • Postings on volunteering and community participation websites.
  • Develop/update strategic traditional media outlets/social media plan.
  • Maintain social media presence through scheduled/purposeful posts/updates to website and social media outlets.
  • Present to community groups/events including faith-based organizations.
  • Represent CEP in local, regional, and statewide meetings/events.
  • Network with community service directors and staff at area colleges.
  • Post and update flyers in the community.
  • Produce and disseminate e- Newsletter.
  • Conduct interviews, reference, and CORI checks with volunteer applicants
  • Communicate with teachers/program staff to assess needs
  • Maintain tracking system of needs and placements
  • Match volunteers according to areas of interest, scheduling availability, and program needs.
  • Revise volunteer placements as needed.
  • Deliver in person and remote trainings.
  • Communicate regularly with volunteers
  • Observe volunteers on program sites.
  • Present annual volunteer awards.

Data management and reporting

  • Meet with and report to Juntos Program Directors as needed.
  • Gather volunteer data, track volunteer hours, enter data into statewide database.
  • Prepare compliance reports for the Juntos Collaborative and Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
  • Track and report expenses.

Marketing and Sales

  • Research, develop, and implement marketing plans for each product or service (document translation and Spanish speaking instruction) being offered by CEP.
  • Set, track, and report sales goals.
  • Create and present regular performance reports.
  • Analyze trends, data, demographics, pricing strategies, and other information that can potentially improve marketing and sales performance.
  • Answer questions from clients about product and service benefits.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with clients through superior customer service.

Development

  • Research and apply for funding opportunities
  • Perform tasks related to special events: Coordinating, securing donations and sponsorships, promoting, emailing invites, taking RSVPs, tracking attendance, etc.
  • Participate in collaborative projects as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

The Community Engagement Specialist represents CEP at community wide events, promotes opportunities for community members to get involved in educating Holyoke’s adult learners, and, maintains the city-wide volunteer tutor pool to support Adult Basic Education and English for Speakers of Other Languages learners served by the Juntos Collaborative—a partnership of adult learning communities throughout Holyoke. The Community Engagement Specialist tracks and develops strategies for social media promotion, engages CEP’s social media presence, and updates CEP website as needed. This unique position combines the passion for non-profit work through volunteer management with the business drive of a marketing and sales expert. The combined expertise enables CEP to use proceeds from our revenue generating services (document translation and Spanish instruction) to provide no cost educational services to our adult learners.

SALARY: $24-$26/hr; 30 hours/wk. This is a grant funded position with occasional flexible scheduling requirements based on program needs. Duration of this position is through the end of FY22 with option to renew following annual performance review and organization’s ability to secure funding needed to sustain the position. All CEP positions require a satisfactory performance review following probationary period of 90 days for employment to continue beyond the initial 90 day probationary period. Full benefits provided, once probationary period is complete. Reports to Executive Director.
