The LPN Support Nurse is responsible for providing medical support services for the medical clinic within the State of Iowa’s Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) limitations of licensure and law.
1. Assist clinical nursing staff with patient flow to minimize patient wait and maximize the efficiency of each patient visit. This can include but is not limited to the following: assist with rooming patients, complete scheduled lab tests and/or injections ordered during the office visit, take phone calls, return patient and /or other agency phone calls, assist providers with procedures.
2. Assist walk-ins, which include patients with questions, patients needing to pick-up sample medications and/or prescriptions and document such in patient’s electronic health record. Twice daily assure that all voice mail messages on clinical nurse phones are retrieved. Document all messages in patient’s electronic health record and send message to appropriate provider. This includes retrieving messages on clinical nurse’s phones when they are absent.
3. Provide coverage during clinical nurse’s lunch breaks by assisting providers/patients as needed.
4. Work as clinical nurse or lab tech as needed and as assigned.
5. Complete prior authorizations for medications and diagnostic testing as assigned.
6. Manage change of provider requests initiated by patients and/or providers as assigned.
Position Requirements:
- Graduate from an approved LPN training program.
- Active licensure in the State of Iowa from the Iowa Board of Nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse in good standing.
- BLS Certified; Mandatory Reporter for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse.
Salary : $45,200 - $57,200
