Community Medical Centers has been providing central California with the highest level of care available in the region. Community Regional Medical Center measures up with top hospitals nationally and is the 3rd largest in California! With 685 beds, we are home to the only comprehensive Burn and Level I Trauma center between Los Angeles and Sacramento. The 56,000 square-foot emergency department is one of the largest and busiest in California! We have an 84-bed Level III NICU and plan to significantly expand pediatric specialty care. Our hospital serves 2.5 million people within 9 counties, averaging a daily census of 641 patients. We're affiliated with UCSF as a teaching facility; trained 3,000 Medical Doctor's to date plus continuous invests in research and training grants.

Responsibilities:
The Mgr Clinical Nurse - Patient Flow is to direct, supervise and evaluate patient care performed by nursing personnel within their assigned service setting in accordance with established goals. Responsible for unit operation, scheduling, position control, staffing and coordination of the quality improvement process. Applies advanced, broad-based knowledge of nursing practice and theory, as well as advanced knowledge of the techniques of supervision, management and leadership as applied to specific nursing responsibilities. This position is responsible for facilitating continuous throughput of patients from all points of entry by utilizing effective verbal communication, reviewing technology that supports throughput activities, and swift decision making.

Accountabilities

Patient Flow and System Throughput
  • Engages with areas of frequent congestion to gain appreciation as to the opportunities to promote throughput and timely patient placement.
  • Develops a system to ensure optimal bed management operations and organizational throughput.
  • Recommends system changes based on data themes.
  • Ensures staff document all required information pertaining to the patient transfer process accurately and thoroughly.
  • Keeps Director apprised of bed capacity and barriers to patient placement.
  • In conjunction with Organizational leadership, develops, implements, and monitors processes that will trend shift census, acuity, and staffing in order to effectively handle patient volumes.
Communication and Relationship Building
  • Resolves and manages conflict.
  • Builds trusting, collaborative relationships with staff, peers, physicians, and other disciplines inside the organization, as well as vendors, community leaders and other key constituents outside of the organization.

  • Directly responsible (with support from Human Resources) for employee engagement and people management processes including interviewing and selection, time and attendance approval, providing timely feedback and performance evaluations, employee development, employee retention, disciplinary actions and terminations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required
Master's Degree in a related field preferred

Experience

3 years of relevant experience in the healthcare industry or a healthcare setting required
Demonstrated expertise in the service area and leadership ability required
Previous leadership experience in the healthcare industry or a healthcare setting preferred

Licenses and Certifications

BLS - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers by American Heart Association (AHA) required
RN - Current State of California Registered Nurse license required

Salary : $142,000 - $179,000
