Job Description
Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Director, Security and Public Safety and working leadership of the Lead Public Safety Officer, monitors the safety and security conditions of the Lutheran Hospital Campus. Responds to and documents situations that threaten the safety and security of the facility's grounds and occupants. May be assigned to work with a canine to assist with safety and security rounds consistent with minimum training requirements.
Registration/Certification/Licensure:
- CPR within 90 days of date in position
- Current Driver's License which meets corporate insurable guidelines relating to the driving of hospital vehicles.
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification within 90 Days of date in position.
- ASP Tactical baton, flashlight and handcuff within 6 months of date in position.
- IAHSS Basic Training and Certification for Healthcare Security Officer within 6 months of position date.
- AXON Taser CEW certification within 6 months of date in position.
Batons, handcuffs and tasers will not be issued to officers prior to successful completion of certification courses.
Additional minimum requirements if assigned canine responsibilities: Canine training and certification from an organization approved by the Chief / Director of Public Safety within 1 year of hire.
Experience: One year security or emergency/first responder related experience required.
Education: Minimum of a High School graduate or GED.
Job Knowledge and Skills:
- Requires basic knowledge of safety and security codes, procedures, equipment, and regulations applicable to an environment of care.
- Demonstrates analytical and organizational skills for the identification and enforcement of safety and security regulations in order to prevent unsafe conditions for patients, visitors and staff.
- Requires writing and organizational skills in order to reflect accurate and complete investigative information on incident reporting as required.
- Requires group cohesion and communication skills promoting teamwork and group achievement.
- Demonstrates well-developed communication and interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with all internal and external unit customers, as needed.
