Therapeutic Instructional Associate / Direct Support Professional (After School and Weekends)

CSS is seeking enthusiastic staff interested in part-time positions to join their children's program team. An ideal part-time position for those in school or looking for supplemental resume building experience or additional income. Perfect for those pursuing education or building resume experiences in human services or related fields, such as social work, special education, psychology, speech and language pathology, mental health counseling, or are interested in learning more about working with children with Autism and other developmental disabilities/special needs. Children's program DSP's work with children with special needs that require support to engage in enjoyable, social experiences after school and on Saturdays with their friends. Children in the program participate in opportunities like hiking, art, music, games, and learning basic sports skills in addition to engaging in social experiences with others and/or in the community. CSS will provide specific training for each support staff on how to offer instructional assistance and clinical guidance to engage a person with autism in the therapeutic after school program and/or Saturday program through strategic behavioral interventions. CSS provides highly structured and individualized services to thirty–five children at all levels of the autism spectrum between the ages of 11-21. The program focuses on gaining social skills through interactive peer recreation experiences, increasing expressive communication skills with language deficits, providing behavioral support for development of appropriate behavior, and providing opportunities for age appropriate inclusion in a variety of community settings. Direct support professionals work with a team of professionals to gain clinical skills in the field to apply for goal development and to teach individuals more independence and safe ways to achieve their goals.
Training and all protective equipment needed during the pandemic is provided.
Our Children's Program has the following openings:
Monday through Friday afternoons, some flexibility for partial weekday availability
Saturday schedules flexible - can be added to afternoon shifts for additional hours or Saturday-only positions can be explored.
COVID-19 considerations: To keep all employees and the individuals supported safe, PPE and training on the use of PPE is provided following CDC guidelines.
Additional cleaning completed throughout the day to protect all against COVID-19.
