The Women’s Business Center (WBC) of Kentucky, hosted by Community Ventures serves entrepreneurs and small business owners in every stage of business. We aim to provide best-in-class coaching, in-demand services, and relevant programs to foster the success of small businesses.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Coach to join our team at the Women’s Business Center. The Business Coach will play a key role in providing one-on-one coaching, training, and guidance to women entrepreneurs at various stages of their business journey. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in business development, entrepreneurship, and a passion for supporting women in business.
Location: Lexington-based (hybrid)
Travel: 10%
Type of Position: Contract
Shift: 40 hours per week, 8-5 (M-F), some evenings/weekends will be required.
Salary Range: $30-$34/hr.
Funding Contingency Statement: This position is grant-funded and contingent upon annual grant renewal. Continuation beyond the current funding period is not guaranteed.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Business Coaching & Advising:
- Provide individualized coaching to women entrepreneurs and minority-owned businesses on various aspects of business development, including business planning, marketing strategies, financial management, and operations.
- Assist clients in developing and refining their business plans, setting achievable goals, and creating actionable steps to achieve business growth.
- Offer guidance on legal structures, licensing, and regulatory compliance for new and existing businesses.
2. Training & Workshops:
- Develop and facilitate workshops, seminars, and training sessions on topics relevant to small business ownership, such as business planning, financing, marketing, and leadership.
- Collaborate with other team members and external experts to design and deliver high-quality training programs tailored to the needs of women entrepreneurs.
3. Resource Referral & Networking:
- Connect clients with relevant resources, including financial institutions, legal advisors, marketing professionals, and other business development organizations.
- Foster relationships with local and regional business networks, chambers of commerce, and other organizations that support women in business.
4. Program Development & Support:
- Contribute to the development and improvement of the Women’s Business Center’s programs and services to better meet the needs of women entrepreneurs.
- Assist in the planning and execution of events, such as networking sessions, pitch competitions, and business expos.
- Conduct surveys with the intent to collect feedback and recommendations on program effectiveness and areas for improvement.
5. Client Management & Reporting:
- Maintain detailed records of client interactions, progress, and outcomes.
- Prepare regular reports on coaching activities, client success stories, and program impact.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to assess the effectiveness of coaching services and make data-driven decisions for continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Marketing, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience:
· Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in business coaching, consulting, or a related field.
· Proven experience in starting, managing, or growing a small business, particularly within a women-focused or diverse environment.
· Experience working with women entrepreneurs or within organizations that support women’s economic empowerment is a strong plus.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of small business development, financial management, and marketing strategies.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and mentoring skills with the ability to inspire and motivate clients.
- Ability to develop and deliver engaging training programs and workshops.
- Proficient in using business planning software, financial tools, and digital marketing platforms.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple clients and tasks simultaneously.
