Job Description:

This individual will oversee the Care Ministry by creating, leading and managing environments and opportunities where people are freed from their hurts, habits and hang-ups to live out their Identity in Christ. This role will help meet people in crisis and walk them to community. Our Care Ministry is built on the philosophy that healing happens in community, connected to people and a process. We are an onramp, not a cul-de-sac - a bridge, not a bypass to community. The Care Pastor will have a heart for hurting people and a passion to help them take the best next steps to connect them in the steps of Exploring their faith, Embracing community, Engaging in service, and becoming Empowered Disciples.

Key Ministry Focus Areas

• Provide oversight and hands-on leadership for all aspects of the Care Ministry including Care Night and Celebrate Recovery.
• Oversee Care ministry staff positions of Celebrate Recovery Director (pt), Care Ministry Assistant(pt), and Care ministries resident.
• Provide initial counseling to individuals and couples to assess and refer to the network of licensed Christian counselors.
• Oversee all aspects of the marriage ministry including oversight and training of the marriage mentor team.
• Provide a contact and oversight of weddings funerals and other pastoral care duties.
• Oversee and schedule the daily Pastor on Call (POC) system.

• Ownership, development, innovation, and oversight of the Care Ministry
• Intentional investment that leads to growth in volunteer (Changemaker) leaders
• Numerical metrics and stories of life change in the Care Ministry

Leadership Responsibilities:

• Leadership over the staff positions of the Care Ministry
• Meets with Changemakers and POC in the ministry to provide support, encouragement, training, accountability and direction in their ministries.
• Is responsible for establishing key objectives in ministry and implementing strategies for their attainment through the power and direction of the Holy Spirit.
• Is responsible for maintaining a balanced work schedule, keeping track of vacation days, sick days, days off, make-up days, personal days, etc.

Additional Responsibilities

• Utilize resources like ROCK and an Administrative Assistant.
• Update ministry skill and knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks.
• Pastoral care for those directly connected to your ministry, plus be a part of the Pastor on Call team.
• Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and/or leadership.

General Expectations

• Spends consistent time in prayer and study of God’s Word.
• Live a spiritually surrendered life leaning on the Holy Spirit for guidance and direction.
• Is involved in personal discipleship, either small group or one-on-one.
• Stays current with ministry trends by listening to podcasts, reading books, periodicals and attending approved conferences.
• Attends all staff meetings and retreats, as directed.
• Maintains flexible working hours as determined by the needs of the ministry.

Character:

• This individual needs to be a devoted follower of Christ with an ever-deepening relationship with Him.
• As a leader of Christ’s church, this individual is expected to be of the highest moral and ethical character according to the Biblical standard.

Accountability

• This person will report to the · Director of Community.
• It is expected that this individual be committed to upholding the beliefs and values of Compass Christian Church, and be loyal to the Senior Pastor, Church Staff and Eldership of Compass Christian Church.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree preferred
• 3.5 years Experience in a large, multi-staff church setting.
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to execute a ministry plan utilizing volunteer teams and collaborating with staff.
• Exceptional people skills that seek to love everyone and contributes to a healthy staff culture.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule with nights and weekends
• A combination of education and experience may be acceptable.
