Description
Compass Health, Inc., one of the largest providers of skilled nursing care on the Central Coast, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Nursing to lead the clinical team in providing high quality care to our residents.
The Director of Nursing directs and coordinates all aspects of nursing care by overseeing and guiding the nursing services team in accordance with Federal, State, and local standard, guidelines, regulations in addition to company policy and procedure. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in skilled nursing practices, procedures and regulations as well as possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
Essential Functions
- Attend care plan meetings - coordinating to ensure overall physical, emotional, and social needs are being met. In addition, observe that items in care plan are being properly implemented and provided.
- Oversee/direct/coordinate/train nursing staff. If there are clinical staff members that are not following protocol or if there is a disagreement between other team members, DON must work with Admin and HR to resolve, re-educate, or follow through with corrective action if needed.
- Communicate and coordinate with physicians, discharge planners or appropriate facility representatives from health care facilities regarding resident admissions, transfers and discharges as needed.
- Keep current with the changes in all regulations that impact patient care that are provided by the state and company.
- Communicate with the attending physician and medical director regarding patient care issues as needed
- Perform direct care/procedures when needed; such may include procedures for which the staff is not qualified or licensed to perform
- Develop and verify the implementation of POCs
- Attend QA meetings
- Careful review/audit of clinical records, QA reports, and charts.
- Ability to be on call.

Requirements
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as Director of Nursing, Asst. Director of Nursing, or RN Supervisor
- Previous experience in Skilled Nursing and Geriatric care
- Current and valid RN license issued by the state of California
- Current and valid CPR/BLS Certification
