Seasonal Forester

Compass Land Consultants, Inc. (CLC) is currently accepting applications for full-time seasonal foresters. CLC is a progressive forestry consulting firm that currently manages over 500,000 acres of forestland in the Upper Great Lakes. Seasonal foresters at CLC may be involved in all aspects of land management. The primary responsibilities for this position will be timber marking and forest inventory. Additional duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

· Timber sale preparation (line-work)

· Timber harvest administration

· Planting and timber stand improvement (TSI) crew administration

This position is open to Forestry, Natural Resource, or Environmental Science students and graduates. Priority will be given to forestry students, but qualified applicants that have or are pursuing non-forestry degrees will be considered as well. Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:

· A strong work ethic and the ability to work independently in the field.

· Working knowledge of GPS hardware and GIS applications.

· Working knowledge of MS Excel and MS Word.

Term: Summer 2023 with potential to extend into December 2023.

Location: CLC has offices located in Au Train, Ironwood, and St. Ignace, Michigan, and in Minocqua and Hayward (Wisconsin). The positions we are filling will be based out of our Au Train, MI office. Successful applicants are expected to secure their own housing near their respective base of operations. Some travel may be involved with this position.

We will be conducting interviews via Google Meets during the week of 1/30/23 – 2/3/23. Google Meets calls will be scheduled individually with qualified applicants after resumes are received.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
