What are the responsibilities and job description for the Survey Party Chief position at Compass Land Surveyors?
Compass Land Surveyors is looking to hire a survey party chief. Located in Milwaukie, Oregon - This position involves working primarily in the field on projects for public agencies, private clients, and other design professionals. The position involves working in a team environment and may include leading a survey crew.
MINIMUM JOB SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- 3 years responsible experience as a field survey technician working on land surveying projects.
- Experience in the use and care of standard electronic survey equipment, including field data management procedures.
- Thorough knowledge of survey principles.
- Possession of valid driver’s license.
- Must possess solid communication skills.
- Must be physically fit.
- Pre-employment drug screening required.
TYPICAL TASKS
- Performs field assignments related to all types of surveys, including boundary, topographic mapping, pipelines, hydrographic, construction and control surveys.
- Accurately operate and maintain survey instruments including levels, GPS devices and total station.
- Performs mathematical calculations. Reads and understands survey map data.
- Takes accurate and clear survey field notes and performs simple note reduction and checking.
- Assists with project research and management of collected survey data used for the preparation of survey maps.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
