This position is remote. However, candidates may be required on occasion to visit the local office when/if needed. Candidates must reside in a state where there is a DLA Piper office.

What will your day look like?
As a Manager Compensation, your responsibility will be to provide leadership and direction in the overall management of staff compensation strategies, programs, and practices. You will develop and administer a competitive compensation program, which supports the attraction and retention of qualified candidates, as well as ensure compensation programs support firm objectives and philosophy and complies with related state and federal legal requirements. You will function as the subject matter expert and technical resource for the firm and HR department on compensation issues, training, and policy/procedure development and interpretation and represent the firm in the external marketplace.
Additional responsibilities include participating in strategic planning efforts for staff compensation programs and recommending new or enhancing current programs based on business objectives, compensation philosophy, and best practices. You will ensure compensation programs are competitive with the external market and internally equitable. You will also develop and implement compensation structures and guidelines, as well as gather external market data, analyze the firm’s position in relation to the market, and ensure that the firm maintains a competitive posture within the marketplace. You will identify solutions and opportunities that leverage current industry trends and supports a cost-effective employee value proposition.
You will also be responsible to manage the job documentation process including the development of position descriptions, formal design, and classification of employees in compliance with related legal requirements (i.e., FLSA). Additionally, you will manage the firm’s annual merit increase and bonus programs and recommend annual budgets based on analysis of market trends and practices.
