What are the responsibilities and job description for the X-RAY/DEXA TECHNOLOGIST position at Complete Health?
SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES: The primary role of an x-ray technician is using medical imaging equipment to produce images of tissues, organs, bones, and vessels.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Must maintain patient-first focus at all times and exhibit outstanding customer service skills as outlined by Complete Health's Mission.
- Produce x-ray films (radiographs) of parts of the human body for use in diagnosing medical problems as requested by providers.
- Obtains patient history, explains procedures to patient and addresses patients' concerns, and follows established pre-screening policy and procedure such as asking to remove items such as jewelry and other articles through which x-rays cannot pass.
- Surrounds the exposed area with radiation protection devices, such as lead shields or limit the size of the x-ray beam to prevent unnecessary exposure to radiation.
- Positions radiographic equipment at the correct angle and height over the appropriate area of a patient's body. Using instruments similar to a measuring tape, measures the thickness of the section to be radiographed and set controls on the x-ray machine to produce radiographs of the appropriate density, detail, and contrast.
- Monitors the patient's physical condition during the course of the procedure; report patient change of status or emergency situations to clinical staff, supervisor and/or physician.
- Provides images, data analysis, and patient information to the physician and/or radiologist for diagnostic interpretation.
- Prepares facilities in accordance with procedural requirements; calibrates equipment as required by the institution. Troubleshoot equipment and document errors or equipment malfunctions; escalate issues and concerns to supervisor..
- Must monitor EMR for orders as well as patients in waiting areas.
- Make ensure signage is posted all times for women of child-bearing age warning.
- Must make an educated decision as to the quality of the overall image produced from the X-ray taken. Must not release images that are not adequate. Ensure that EMR documentation is accurate so the images cross over (i.e. spelling of provider names)
- Maintain patient flow, notifying management immediately when assistance is needed to process patients safely and efficiently.
- Keep area neat and clean at all times, notifying management immediately of any housekeeping issues.
- Responsible for performing tasks that are within the scope of his/her educational preparation and certification, knowledge, and permitted by the policies and procedures of Complete Health Medical Associates, and other local, state, and federal guidelines; and the policies of the facility requesting the services.
