Job Description
Computer World Services, Corporation (CWS) is seeking an exceptional candidate to serve as Quality Assurance Specialist for the NIH IT CSPSS customer service Portfolio that consists of a full range of NIH IT Service Desk and Desktop Support services, IT Training, and related resource services. The NIH IT Service Desk provides technical support to the NIH community via the World Wide Web and phone. The Service Desk receives over a thousand requests for service every business day.
Where issues cannot be resolved in-house, they are assigned to support staff in each of NIH’s ICs. Support cases are assigned and resolved using the NIH IT Service Desk IT Service Management System (ITSM), supported by the CIT Business Application Services (BAS) and the Service Desk’s Automated Call Distribution System administered by CIT Unified Connectivity and Communication (UCC) service area.
Provides technical and administrative direction for personnel performing software development tasks, including the review of work products for correctness, adherence to the design concept and to user standards, review of program documentation to assure government standards/requirements are adhered to, and for progress in accordance with schedules. Coordinate with the Project Manager and/or Quality Assurance Manager to ensure that problems are solved to the user’s satisfaction. Make recommendations, if needed, for approval of major systems installations. Prepare milestone status reports and deliveries/presentations on the system concept to colleagues, subordinates, and end user representatives.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Approves all plans for integration and acceptance of systems and component changes, security reviews, and changes and test plans for new and upgraded equipment, software or services
- Creates test plans, test data and perform all appropriate testing (component testing, system tests, and end-to-end testing)
- Reviews and approves testing processes, schedules, and recommendations
- Coordinates multi-source tests (e.g., applications with infrastructure and establishes and defines acceptance criteria, test objectives, parameters, and risks)
- Facilitates troubleshooting support to test teams and users
- Conducts user, non-user acceptance testing and other types of testing
- Assists security team in performing tests for certification and accreditation
- Documents and updates Quality Assurance Plan (QAP) and quality controls with lessons learned
- Validates all new and upgraded software or services for compliance with CIT application Security policies and instructions
- Creates real or virtual test environments for Application software tests as required by Application Developers
- Supports Application Development teams with IT Infrastructure requirements and impact to current systems and capacity
- Corrects defects found because of testing efforts and retests
- Provides documentation (e.g., Implementation and preparation guidance and coordination of implementation risks with service delivery groups)
- Stages systems before implementation (hardware refresh, software updates, or new systems – as determined by project)
- Supports and ensures preparation of CIT production environments for implementation
Job Requirements:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree
- 2-4 years supporting quality activities in IT project/IT program operations
Certifications
- Relevant commercial industry training certifications for respective activities
- ITIL Foundation certification (V3/V4) (Required to obtain within three months of starting)
Security Clearance
- Ability to pass and obtain government required background investigation
Other (Travel, Work Environment, DoD 8570 Requirements, Administrative Notes, etc.)
- Local travel only to customer site
